What are you reading? Is it for one of the challenges? Just for fun, if a friend asked for a recently-read book suggestion, what would you recommend?

Re: Happy Friday!

  • I'm reading (Don't You) Forget About Me by Kate Karyus Quinn. I am not quite halfway through and I am not sure how I feel about it. Hoping it picks up soon. It is #14 for the year.

  • I am reading 3rd Degree by James Patterson and it's ok so far.  I'm not sure yet if it's for WBC yet or not.  It will be if I can fit it into one of the categories.

I would probably recommend We Were Liars.  I just finished that one last weekend and loved it!

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I'm reading 'Beautiful Creatures' by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.  I'm liking it so far more than I expected to.  It is for WBC and is #8 for the year.

I would recommend 'The Nightingale' by Kristin Hannah.  Soooo good!

  • I'm doing a re-read of HP5.

I should finish listening to Cavendon Hall by Barbara Taylor Bradford today.  I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it.  Very Downton Abbey-ish.

    #s15 & 16

I would recommend Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim.

  • Last night I finished Mean Streak  by Sandra Brown. I absolutely LOVED it!!!

I just started The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie.  #7 for the year.

I've mostly read suspense thrillers this year so I hope friend would enjoy them.  If so, I would recommend either Mean Streak by Sandra Brown or The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

  • Earlier this week I finished Stolen Songbird by Danielle Jensen, and I found it quite entertaining and fairly well written, if a little predictable. I'm about halfway through The Assassin's Blade by Sarah Maas, and I'm enjoying it.

  • I am reading Shadow's Edge by Brent Weeks. I think it is around twenty for the year. It has been okay so far.

I would recommend the most recent Firefly graphic novel, Leaves on the Wind. It picks up after the movie and was a quick read.

  • I'm about 2/3 of the way through City of Heavenly Fire.

I'd recommend the new bio on Chanel that comes out next month. I got an ARC and it was really good.

  • I'm stilling working my way through The Girl with all the Gifts.  I like it but I'm so bogged down with reading for grad school, I can't find the motivation to pick it up.

I'm listening to Deadly Decisions by Kathy Reichs.  I love the Bones books and this one is as good as I expected.

I've been recommending The Martian a ton.

  • I'm really close to finishing the audiobook of First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. It's fun and flirty and I like the author's sense of humor, but I don't know if I'll rush out and grab the next books in the series.

I'm also reading Bad Feminist and Compulsion, but I started Invaded anyway too.

My recent book pushing for anyone who likes mysteries has been centered on the In Death series by JD Robb.

  • I've been kind of absent around here lately, which I hate. Work was busy this week. I'm trying to decide between the next In Death book (Judgment, #11) or a reread of Pride and Prejudice. I'll probably read Judgment in Death.

I actually recommend Nora Roberts books the most, but most of the people who ask me for recs are looking for a romance novel. I would love to recommend other stuff too.

  • I just finished Isla and the Happily ever after this morning. #7 I'm going to start Bloodlines next. I'm also listening to Black Dagger Brotherhood Rehv's book which I can't remember the name of.

    I would recommend 11/22/63. I LOVED that!
