Here's our new pup! We picked him up from transport yesterday morning. He rode all the way from Arkansas to CT on a bus with lots of other rescue dogs! All things considered he's doing great so far. Not totally house trained but learning very quickly. He loves going for walks, although I'm trying not to over exert him until after our first vet visit since he's recovering from heartworm treatment. Thanks for all the great advice so many if you gave when I first posted about him!

Thanks everyone!

@hoffse it is difficult, but luckily he is really easy to train so far! It's supposed to be a characteristic of Brittanies, if that is in fact what he is. I haven't had to tell him a gentle "no" more than twice about anything except the potty accidents, and he's already got "sit" and "stay" covered just using simple positive reinforcement. We do expect him to come out of his shell a bit over the next couple of weeks as he recovers from his trip and the heartworm medication, but he's such a sweetheart and extremely calm so far. It boggles my mind how he ever became a stray!

@Gdaisy we love the bed too! We're relieved he likes it. Everyone told us not to get a nice bed until we met him and made sure he likes beds, but we got overexcited and the gamble paid off.

@vlagirl he is quite relaxed. Whatever happened in his past I don't think he's been through the traumas that some rescue dogs have. He's warmed up to us right away and had no separation anxiety when we left yesterday to go to church. Today we have another blizzard so we can delay leaving him to work a bit longer. I'm going to have to come home on my lunch break to take him out at least until he's house trained.

ours has the couch beds...she loves to rest her head on the sides, she's also a spoiled girl and insists on snuggling with fuzzy blankets. LLBean makes a good bed, the covers wash nicely too.

Ooo we were ogling the couch bed, but the store we were at only had them in tiny sizes. We may end up getting him another one for different rooms down the line. It's worth the quality if he's going to use it.

if she ends up sleeping with you guys don't waste money on dog beds. we made that mistake and our dog looked at us like we were nuts when we got her a really nice dog bed at costco
