Wacky Wednesday

Some random questions, just for funsies.

1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?

2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?

3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?

4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?

5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?

    1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?
    Nope. I figure if you're speeding it's a risk you're taking.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?
Nope. It makes me crazy when other people do.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?
I never know what is proper protocol, TBH. They're very inconsistent with this in SWVA. I grew up in Ohio and never noticed people doing this, but then I lived in Georgia and people would pull over.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?
I saw someone flat out run a red light at an intersection that I had just approached. Not even "I can make this yellow" but full on, well after the fact, running of the light. Didn't even slow down.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?
Ties into the funeral thing above. I was at an intersection when the head of a procession pulled up because the light just changed. The hearse stopped, and since he stopped and I had the green, I went. I felt like an asshole after the fact when I looked in my rearview mirror to see the procession continue through the intersection and the car that had been behind me had stopped for them. To be fair, if there had been a cop at the lead I'd have realized I needed to stop.

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead? No, I didn't even know this was a thing.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road? Nope

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction? I couldn't tell you the last time I saw one.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently? So many things. SO.MANY.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently? I tried to make a left turn on a yellow that turned red really quickly. The cars in front of me slowed up for someone way ahead, so I ended up in the intersection on the red for a second. Oops.

Thanks for posting this! I have completely forgotten it is Wednesday for like, three weeks.

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead? I don't, my husband does

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road? No, and this is one of my biggest pet peeves!

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction? Its been a long time since I've seen one but yes.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently? Nothing specific but a couple weekends ago we had a big snowstorm where we got over a foot of snow and I had to work. I am a nurse so it is not optional and I work overnights. DH drove me in because it was so bad, at 10pm on a Sat and there were TONS of people on the road. We saw several near accidents. I hate when people don't stay home when its "travel not advised". I didn't have a choice but I guarantee most of those people did.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently? I can't think of anything specific right now though I am sure there is plenty. I don't drive a ton though. I did get stuck trying to get up my parents hill a couple days ago from the snow. (Well, not stuck but I just couldn't make it up the hill in my van)

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead? Not usually - I'm usually too busy watching my rear view mirror to make sure I didn't get caught.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road? I try not to, but I'm sure I'm guilty sometimes.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction? Yes to both directions and I MAJORLY stink-eye those who don't.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently? In my area there's an interstate split between I-24 and I-75.  There are multiple notifications for MILES in advance.  Does anyone pay attention?  No.  It's always a huge backlog of traffic because of people who suddenly realize they're in the wrong lane at the last second.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently? I forgot to turn my lights on until I got to the country and there were no street lights recently.

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?  Hell no.  I have had my fair share of speeding tickets.  Let someone else have a turn

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?  Hell yes.  The more blood and guts the better.  I can't help myself.  I even look through all the autopsy photos that come through our office when we get wrongful death cases.  I am morbid like that.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions?   Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?  I try to but in this day and age it is hard to tell a funeral procession becuase every damn car has their headlights on 24/7 now.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?  Brushing his teeth while driving

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?  Just this morning I was lacing up and tying my boots while driving all the while eating a piece of toast.

  • Some random questions, just for funsies.

    1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?

No.  I don't think I've been in a situation that warranted that.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?

Yes.  I try not to but I can't help it.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?
I always pull over for them no matter what.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?

I saw someone pass a car on a residential road (in a school zone) this morning. The car wasn't even going slow.  It was really weird and not a safe place to be doing it.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?

I kept sitting stopped at the light even though it was green.  I was thinking about something and not paying attention.

    1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?
    Not usually

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?
No, I might glance but I try not to slow down.  That makes me crazy when other people do.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?
I try to, been a long time since I've seen one.  I think I do if it's going in the same direction.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?
Text on the highway, hit a snow bank, and flip over.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?
Not come to a complete stop at a stop sign & get pulled over.

  • Some random questions, just for funsies.

    1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead? Almost always

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road? Totally depends on traffic. If we are crawling slower than I could walk, then yes, I'll rubberneck. But if we're moving at a pretty good clip, then I'm too afraid I'll rear-end someone and I won't look over.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction? I'm pretty sure it's the law here that you may not interrupt a funeral procession. That said, I always pull over no matter what.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently? On a road with traffic moving 55 mph, I ROUTINELY see people pull out right in front of someone else (pulling out of subdivisions/other residential roads). And yes, people literally die on this road all the time. It's some stupid sh*t.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently? I drove all around town recently without my seat belt on. I thought I had it on, but this time of year you can't feel your seat belt because of the large winter coats. I even tuned out the dingdong car chime. Stupid.

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?
No, only to signal to someone that it's dark and their lights are off. I didn't know it was a thing to flash lights about speed traps or cops.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road?
I glance over, but mostly I'm keeping my eyes on the rubber-necker possible accident causers around me.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction?
I don't think I've ever had the occasion.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently?
There are a bunch of confusing one way streets near where my boys go to school. It's not unusual to see someone who's taken a wrong turn going the wrong way.

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?
Try to put a song on for the boys and look up to find that I was way too close to the car in front of me.

  • 1. Do you flash your lights at other oncoming cars to let them know there's a speed trap or cop up ahead?  Sometimes. This is embarrassing, but I have flashed them at people if there a bunch of deer or animals close to the road, in hopes that they will slow down and not hit them. DH tells me I shouldn't do that, but whatevs. Keep in mind that I live in the middle of nowhere.

    2. Are you a rubbernecker when you see an accident on the side of the road? Maybe a little, but I try hard not to.

    3. Do you pull over for funeral processions? Does it make a difference if they're traveling in the same direction or the opposite direction? I most certainly do. I also pull over for ambulances with their lights on.

    4. What's the dumbest thing you've seen someone do on the road recently? I had a guy almost rear-end me the other day as I was turning into my driveway. I had had my signal on forever, so I am not sure what his problem was. He threw his hands up at me like I was the crazy one. He got the finger in response. And yes I did check my turn signals once I pulled into the garage. :)

    5. What's the dumbest thing you've done on the road recently?  Gave a stranger the finger in front of my own house. Probably not too smart of me. Oh well, we have a lot of guns.
