Powerball: What would you do if you won?

Re: Powerball: What would you do if you won?

  • If I played and actually won, I would pay off our debts including the house.  Buy two modest house but in good locations for two families that we are close to.  I would pay for all my fertility testing and treatment without worrying about insurance.
I would buy a bunch of land with trees and streams and maybe a spring and spring fed pond and build a house on it.  Not a crazy sized house, but our dream house, and then I would host primitive skills gatherings on that land once a year, so I would also build some structures.  A bathhouse, a couple of non electric bunkhouses, and a couple of small buildings for inclement weather purposes.
And then we would get some chickens and goats and build the appropriate structures for them, and then whatever was left would be saved.

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
    "I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

  • The first thing I would do is run into my big boss' office and tell her to suck it.  Then I would pay all the bills, set up a fund for DD, build a big house in the country and travel the world.

  • We were just talking about this at lunctime at work.  Don't normally play, but will be stopping to buy tickets on the way home today.

I would pay off all of our debt first.  Buy a bigger/newer home in our area and a vacation home some place on the water where it's warm all year.  We would both get new, not crazy extravagant cars.  I'd buy a new car for my son as well.  I'd pay for my son's student loans and for the rest of his college tuition.  I'd put money away for the other two kids for college.  We'd also buy a few investment properties as well.  I'd help my family out that needed it.  Then I'd travel as much as possible for as long as possible while the kids are out of school.  Then from there I'd get a good financial person to help us invest and save, well I guess I should do that first.  It's nice to daydream, I can't imagine in a million years what I'd do if I won 500 million!!

  • 1.  Buy lots of land to build a cat shelter

    2.  Buy all the cat food

    3.  Order this image

    4.  Hire lots of cute cabana boys to help operate, maintain and spoil 1, 2, & 3

    5.  Buy lots of cute shoes so cabana boys never see me without cute shoes.

  • First I'd do alot of good with it - church, charity, help the homeless, people with cancer, so forth.
Put money aside for braces, prom dresses & tuxes, college, weddings, my grandkids, etc.
    A chunk for 'retirement'
Help people we know who need it-family, friends.
I wouldn't 'pay off the house'. I'd definitely upgrade houses and pay someone else to pack us up and move us.
    New car.
    Freedom from contact lenses/eyeglasses surgery.
    Bigger boobs.

  • Sell old house, buy new house. Make new house into the house of my dreams. Library *cough, cough*

Buy lots of land to open and operate an animal rescue thing of some type. All I know is I want to take care of ALL the animals that I possibly can.

Give some away to family and friends and good causes.

    Travel.

Still work, but I would want to find something rewarding and awesome.

  • I'd first want to pay off all of our debts, and my parents' and in-laws' debts. Then buy some land to build houses for us, our best friends, and our in-laws, plus a guest house.

It would be nice to put a lot away and use the interest to make generous donations, and travel, and live on. I'd also love to go back to working part time so I could be more flexible about my class times and more available for my boys.

  • First things first, I would find a financial advisor and put half away. Then I would buy a house up here somewhere and a house down south for the winter. I'd pay my mom's taxes for the year and set her up with some cash so that she doesn't have to worry. And my great aunt too.

We'd probably help out my MIL and my dad as well.

And then we'd buy an rv and go traveling through the US. We'd probably do some European travel as well.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I would buy a huge piece of the land way out in the country (further than we are now) or on the water. I would build an awesome but not overly large house there and turn a portion of the land into a no-kill shelter. I would also want to save a big chunk for retirement and DS's college tuition. I would put money away for when my mom gets older and needs someone to take care of her. I would take awesome vacations every year. And whoever said bigger boobs, I am with you on that!

  • Why does anyone need to put the money away when it's more money than you can spend in 5 lifetimes?

I would buy myself a private jet to take me to tropical locations every time I hear the word snow.

You should buy a GIANT space heater that melts and then evaporates all the snow within a mile radius of your house.

Good one.  What about a ten mile radius so that I can get to work without dealing with a 2 hour commute each way?

  • Pay off all my debt, give some to family, buy a new house, new cars for both of us, and put the rest in savings.
    Siggy coming soon....
  • I'd make a trust fund for each kid that they couldn't have until 25. Buy a cabin somewhere, a condo or beach house at the beach, maybe a condo in a big city.... new clothes and cars, and travel between houses =)
