Baby Swings

I am torn between spending the money on a swing or not. How useful did you find your baby swing? Would you recommend the one you have?

Re: Baby Swings

  • We have a glider and it has saved us. It was the only place little man would sleep for the first few weeks. And even now, movement calms him. But every baby is different. Ours is Graco.

  • DS is almost 5 weeks old and only just now started to tolerate the swing. I am finding it useful for short daytime naps so I can put him down and get some things done around the house. We'll see how long he continues to enjoy it.

  • Adalyn HATED the swing, so I sold it and didn't bother buying a new one for Thomas. They both loved/love the RnP though. That was a true lifesaver for us.

  • At first, they hated the swIng. Then they needed to be in a good mood to be okay in it. Now it does calm them, and if they are fighting a nap, it's usually my ace in the hole.

I'm glad we kept trying it!

  • W HATED the swing for a long time, but he ended up only napping in that after a few months. I'm sure I could have gotten him to sleep elsewhere, but the swing was easy. We only used it for 2 or 3 months total, and a friend let us borrow it. If I had paid for it, it would not have been worth it for us.

  • Thanks!! I originally wanted one that was about $130 and started reconsidering this week. I might go for one that is like $80 and keep it in the box unless I notice she needs something extra to help calm her.

  • E has LOVED his swing and I couldn't live without it. He still fits in it (by weight) and loves it at the one year mark.

Word of advice: get one that plugs in. He would only nap in the swing for the longest time and the battery one would stop CONSTANTLY and he'd wake up. I had to sit on the couch with it nearby and kick it with my foot.

    This was worth every.single.penny. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=19346226&cp=2255957.2273443.2255983.3224660&parentPage=search

  • It was a must have item for us.
I wouldn't waste your money with a second hand one though. I did and it broke, it was annoying buying a new one so late in the game.

  • I decided on this one: http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/ingenuity-trade-convertme-swing-2-seat-trade-seneca-trade/1042410898?categoryId=32026

It isn't very expensive and with a 20% off coupon I save $18.

  • That's a nice one, once you find out your kid loves it, it'll be nice that it's so easy to fold and take with you.

    Good choice.
