QOTD 2/12

Did your parents ever tell you bedtime stories? What were they?

Do you have any bedtime stories that you will tell your kids?

  • Lullabies, but no stories I can remember, other than reading from a book.

Just reading from books. Although, now thT I think about it, my mom did used to tell me this story about Mickey Mouse following her home from school one day and my grandmother made them dinner. Haha! I haven't thought about that in years!

In hindsight, that story was kind of creepy. Way to go, mom.

  • Books, lots of books.  Dr Seus, Bernstein bears, and betrix potter.  Once I could read, I always read before bed, even now.

I still have some of the above books.  My friend also gave E the complete works of Winnie the pooh.  I'm excited.  I also can't wait until she old enough for HP!

  • No "stories" really. We would always read books, but I don't remember them being at bedtime. Anytime I felt like it! I had a lot of nighttime rituals that I ran and I don't think there would have been time for a story or book in there. haha.

I'd love to make a book part of bedtime routine once I have a baby.

  • I can;t recall my parents ever reading to me before bed.  I know my mom read me books throughout the day, but I don't think at bedtime.  I'm not sure if I would start that with my own kids.  But I will read them books in general.  Little Critter, Beatrix Potter, Pooh Bear (the originals!) come to mind now.

  • If my parents did read to me before bed, I honestly don't remember it. And more than likely if it was anytime after I turned 2, I probably was independent and just read it myself. I actually started picking up books here and there to be read later when we have kids. A lot of them are more fairy tale oriented.

  • My parents read to us every night until we could read, so until about 1st grade. I don't remember any specific stories. But, I do remember a song they used to sing to us.

We read to J for about 10-15 minutes every night. Not always the same books. We also sing a bedtime song.

  • I don't remember my parents reading to us at bedtime, but they did tell us stories.  When we got older, they turned into scary stories and ghost stories, which we loved.

We read to the girls every once in a while before they go to bed.  We need to do it more often.

  • I dont remember being read to before bed, or any stories! I know we read often though.

We always read DD a book before bed, its a part of our routine. If H does bedtime he will read her 5 books just because she has him wrapped around her finger:)

  • My parents were forever reading me books when I was little. Dr. Seuss and Little Golden Books when I was really young. When I got a little older, it became stuff I wasn't old enough to read on my own yet, usually one chapter per night. We did things like The Hobbit and The Chronicles of Narnia that way.
