QOTD 2/13

When are you getting your taxes done? Do you think that you are going to have to pay or will you get a refund? If you are getting a refund, what are you planning to do with it?

Re: QOTD 2/13

  • Waiting on a few things to get ours done.  We are going to owe :(  Blah.

  • We haven;t received all our necessary paperwork from our employers yet.  I'm going to owe, since the library didn't take out taxes.  If we do get a refund we will just put it with the investor.

  • Usually we get it done first week in February. I'm shooting for March 6th. Last year we owed federal, got state back and ended up in the green. We should be getting both back due to the child credit. H made more and gets more out due to getting single withdrawn, so that helps too.

We will be putting it in savings, to replenish from the car down payment. Or starting a mutual fund for the kids. Depends on how much it is.

  • We are going next Saturday, we will probably owe federal again and get back state but who knows, they guy who did our taxes last was shady and we've switched to someone new this year. It will probably go into savings whatever we get back.

  • We are going tonight. It's a Valentines tradition. We will definitely get back from federal. I never know with the state. Last year we owed the state but it was only about $150.

We are going to use out refun to pay off our credit card. The ret will go into savings.

  • We'll probably do ours in March. We generally get a refund but I think H's new job pushed us into a higher income bracket, so...here's hoping! Assuming there is a refund, it will go straight into the house fund.

  • Refund?  What's that!?!?  I've had to pay every year since I was 25 or so.  We will have to pay again this year.

We are finally in a good enough place financially that I've adjusted our payroll to have extra funds withheld so hopefully we don't have to pay next year, or at least not as much.  We'll see.

  • H is a CPA.  He does our taxes as soon as we have all of our paperwork.  We got our federal return already, but we owe NY.  H doesn't like to pay, so he waits until like April 12th to pay.  We paid last year also.  Hopefully next year we won't owe.

We were going to get a dining room set with the money, but the set I want isn't cheap enough for me, I've seen it on better sales.  We'll just wait.  The rest is going into savings so we have a little more cushion.
  • Already done. Got a refund. H used his chunk to get a new fitness tracker. I used mine to get a game and may use a bit to get my brakes worked on. The rest is going into our savings to save up for a house.

  • We filed last Sunday. We haven't gotten anything yet, but we're getting refunds from federal & state. We're using the majority to pay off some debt & our car insurance. If there is any left over, I want to start a savings account for Wren.

  • We're still waiting on our investment and mortgage information for taxes. We've already inputted our W-2's from work. We'll get a refund. Thankfully we don't have state income tax! We're going to use it to pay off my diamond and reduce what we owe on either the couch, TV, or my car. I'm very excited!!
