@mammersoh - Tell me more about this renovation.  What does moving your bedroom upstairs entail?

Re: mammersoh

  • Where to begin....

Our master is downstairs right on the other side of the living room. Our plan for the downstairs is to knock out the wall that separates the two, rip out all of the carpet and lay down hardwood/laminate hardwood (not sure yet) so we basically double the space.

Our upstairs consists of 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, loft area, and a finished walk in storage room. So we are turning A's room into our master (pretty big for a spare bedroom and has walk-in closet), we moved A into M's room (just did that tonight) and M is rooming with A (theres a trundle bed in there) until phase 2 is finished.

Phase 2 is turning the space that we use for storage and the loft area, in to another bed room. Which means adding a window to a windowless room, moving/putting up walls, and carpet. Then M or A can have that room..I don't care who at this point.

We plan on on doing more stuff with the kitchen/powder room/down stairs master bath, but haven't worked out the logistics on that yet.

In the end, all I really want is to be upstairs with the kids and some new flooring lol. We start painting our new bedroom tomorrow night, bought the paint today, and moving our furniture this weekend. Wish me luck, and send me wine.

  • Wow!  Are you guys doing everything yourselves?!

Sending lots of good luck vibes your way!
  • Thanks! Our brother in law is a contractor, so he is going to help. But Greg is helping him, so he's kinda doing it and I'm just watching.
