WBC: NYT Notable Book - I'll Give You The Sun (NS)

I read this book for the category "Read a NYT Notable Book from 2014". I had just finally read The Sky is Everywhere and LOVED it so I was really looking forward to this one. I really enjoyed it, though not quite as much as TSIE. The writing was beautiful.  I really enjoyed most of the characters. I was a little uncomfortable reading about 13/14 year olds sexual thoughts/masturbating, etc. but I do tend to be pretty prudish about those sort of things, lol, and I realize this book is meant for young adults.

  • I looooooved this book.

  • I oddly found the masterbation and sexual stuff and more honest than really sexual.  Does that make sense? I imagine 13 and 14 year old boys (and girls for that matter) are really starting to explore their feelings about sex and their hormones running rampant.

Same...especially because Noah was really struggling to come to terms w/ his sexuality.

Oh, I agree. I just don't want to think about it, lol. Especially now that I have a kid and don't want her thinking about that until she is 30 ;) I am a postpartum nurse and have taken care of new moms that age so I know it is already a big thing already at that age. I feel like such an old lady, lol.
