Do you watch Mike and Molly?
Last night P and I were watching a Mike and Molly rerun. It was from season 4 when she is staying home and trying to be a writer. They are working on cutting back on expenses, but both have things they don't want to give up. Molly buys a pair of shoes (her big weakness) and Mike makes a comment about how she is spending his money. Ensuing argument occurs on the episode.
DH and I started talking. I agreed with Molly being upset over Mike's comment. They are married and she is trying to start her writing career of which Mike has said he is fully supportive. DH agreed with Mike's comment since Molly wasn't staying home to care for a child. This was our ultimate sticking point. I said she was working and he
disagreed since she hadn't been paid for her writing yet. I also tried
to point out that even if she wasn't being a stay at home mom, that
didn't mean she wasn't working. What if she was doing all the cooking
and cleaning, ect? Doesn't that count as a job?
So what do you think? When you are married, is there ever a time where it's "his money" or "her money" and not "their money" IF one part of the couple isn't working?
Re: Do you watch Mike and Molly?
However, regardless of who earns it expenses must be less than income.
And we both agreed on the expenses being less than income part. Haha, that's a different part of the show that bugs both of us.
