The White Queen (book vs. mini series) NS

How close does the mini series follow the books?

I watched the first 3 episodes (all are free with Prime!) and it got me interested in reading more about Margaret Beaufort.  I didn't realize that The Red Queen, was about her.  To be honest, I didn't know much about the series except that someone recommended the show to me.  I picked up all four books at the library and started with The White Queen.  So far, the book and the mini series are almost scene for scene, word for word, the same.  I'm so bored trying to catch up to where I am in the show.  So the questions is, is it close enough that I can just watch the show?  Usually, I would definitely read the books.  However, I'm finding myself really not liking Elizabeth much, so it's not helping.  I want to get to Margaret and Anne already.

  • I haven't seen it yet. I've been intrigued but haven't gotten around to it yet.

  • I felt like the series was very close to the books. I read The White Queen and The Red Queen long before I watched the show so I can't say how close they were but I read The Kingmaker's Daughter while watching it and they really stayed true to the book so I was bored with the Anne/Isabel parts.

  • I'm guessing they all must run tandem?

  • They actually start to weave together.  So you'll have an episode with some parts about Margaret, some with Elizabeth and some with the Neville girls.

  • Wait. the series covers the entire cousins war? I thought it was going to bE just the white queen itself. Suddenly, i'm more Intrigued.

That's what I thought originally until I was seeing A LOT of Margaret and Anne/Isabel.  I like their stories better so far. and I'm only 3 episodes in.
