Thursday Randoms...little long

Hey hey hey,
I haven't posted much but I've been reading and keeping up with you guys. It's been a tough week and a half. I am just about completely physically healed. Everything else is gonna take time. I have good days where I'm my usual self and bad days where every little thing bothers me. Going back to work was great actually. I'm really glad to be back, even though it takes some adjusting. I'm getting to the midterm part of my semester already. I can't believe it. I figured out I have THREE more semesters and I will graduate with my bachelors.

Other than that, not a ton going on in Amber land. We are kicking it into high gear this weekend and packing at least half of our things. We move out the 7th! AUGH! Also, sorta sad that we may have to cancel our trip to Disney. Medical bills are coming in plus trying to buy a house....augh. But, I desperately need this vacation. T and I have to talk about it.

Thank you guys again for everything. You all are so nice and I appreciate it.

Re: Thursday Randoms...little long

  • I hope you can get everything figured out.  A trip is a nice break from everything.  But I understand about money for bills and house buying.  That's great news about work and your semester/school.  I remember being that close to being done.  It starts getting so exciting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We are just trying to prioritize what we need/want to do first.  We got our tax return and there are little things like a twin bed for Lily and larger things like a new windshield for P that are must do items.  We need new windows and want an A/C unit.  We need to get quotes on the windows but it's so snowy, that will probably wait another month or two.

P still wants to look for a new job when his contract period is over in April.  Today he asked me if moving was out of the question when he looks for a job.  It gave me a pause.  I said it's not, but the job would have to be pretty perfect.  The thought of moving again does not bring me joyful feelings.  I dislike packing.  But if the job was perfect, I would do it.  I figure now is a better time to be moving before Lily is in school.  Also now (as in this year) would still work as the housing market in Denver is still a sellers market.  We probably wouldn't make any or much money since we just bought, but we wouldn't lose any.  I love Colorado though and really don't want to move.

  • So we got a bill for my M/C as well. I called insurance and mentioned that it should be covered.  They had to reprocess it and it was all covered.  Can you do something similar?
  • I did and they said it was billed correctly.

Luckily, we got it all figured out where we can take our trip and pay the medical bills. House hunting will just be a slow process until we can save up enough money. We decided that the trip was a priority to us right now.

  • I'm glad you are still able to take your trip. I've been following your posts on FB. It is very good that you will get a much needed break and be able to do something that makes you happy.

@shellyamf Now you have me wondering if I should get a twin bed for Abby? What has you thinking about making the switch from the toddler bed to a twin bed?

  • I honestly just wish we had gotten a twin to start with.  We could have just put the mattress on the floor.  I still have to rock/hold her to sleep.  If I try to lay on the floor next to her bed, she wants out to lay with me or on me.  So at this point, I just think a twin will help us transition from rocking/me holding her to sleep to laying down next to her to get her to sleep.  It's beyond time.

She was doing great when we first got her toddler bed.  But then she started getting her molars and it's been horrible.  Once I get her to sleep, I lay her in her bed.  On bad nights she's awake every few hours and usually ends up with us in our bed.  On good nights (like last night) she was in her bed until 4:00 am.  She spent the last few hours in our bed.  If she had a twin I would have just gone and laid with her.  I've tried to go in and rock her when she wakes up in the wee hours of the morning, but either she doesn't go back down for hours or I end up asleep in the chair and it's not comfy for sleeping.

That is very true @shellyamf. There are a lot of night I go in to calm Abby and she just crawls on the floor and we end up sleeping there the rest of the night. It would be nice to be able to at least lay in a bed. Maybe I'll talk to DH again and see what he says. She didn't stay in the crib long so I think we kind of want this toddler stage to last a little longer, but we'll see.

ETA: Are you going to have the twin mattress on a box spring and frame or just on the floor?

  • I know what you mean.  We've had her toddler bed for about 6 months.  Which is why I'm wishing we had just skipped this step.  We bought a box spring but we bought a low profile one so it's about 4 inches shorter than a regular one.  We are waiting to buy a frame until she gets used to the mattress and box set.  It's going to be delivered on Tuesday!
