Yikes! No discussions since Dec? LOL

Hope everyone is doing well! I am doing fine and going back to work soon. Well, I've been telecommuting the past month already but back to the office officially in March. Other than that nothing much new here. What is everyone else up to?

Re: Yikes! No discussions since Dec? LOL

  • I can't stand the formatting here. Whenever I check our board, it looks like it marked all the old topics as brand new.

We are in the middle of getting our kitchen refaced. The new granite (!!!) countertops came last week. Today the guys came out and took all the doors and drawers out and sanded the cabinets. Everything from my kitchen cabinets is out in the garage and there's giant plastic tarps closing off the room. It should be done on Wednesday.

The good news is we have plenty of leftovers from my mom coming to visit this weekend so we don't even need to order any take-out. We may have to plug in the microwave in the living room lol

    I know - it's kinda sad!!

Quirky - how exciting!  I love remodel projects!

I'm hanging in there.  3rd trimester starts Thursday - what!?  We set up the crib over the weekend, it was a shower gift that arrived early and I just couldn't stand to let it sit in the box!  My shower is next weekend, which I'm excited about - although I hate being the center of attention.  Dr appointment this week, then I'm on the every-other week schedule.  At times it seems to be going fast, but other times it can't go fast enough.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

    Hey!

We've been hanging in there, Christmas was a big whirlwind.

Work for me has been insane. There's me, our senior editor and another editor. Other editor has only been there a year and a half or so, and she has just never really seemed to "get it". Like, she went to film school, this really shouldn't be hard for her. But apparently it is. My boss considered firing her last summer but held off and we are feeling the repercussions. She's been on a 30 day probation bc we basically doubled the amount of shows we need to send per week and he realized that it's now or never. I'm getting scared that it's going to be never. They've whittled her duties down to things not related to editing and I just don't see how that's a good solution. It doesn't help that she's also an overall annoying human being.

Then a few weeks ago H had a disagreement with his boss and quit. Unexpectedly. It works out because another job he's been waiting on will become available soon and that place found something to carry him over in the meantime, but I'm still processing that decision. And it's completely rocked our schedule so still getting used to that.

ETA: oh! And in the MIL front, contact has been minimal and there has been significantly less drama in my life. She comes over once or twice a week while I'm at work.

  • @Quirky - yay, granite counters - I so want to redo our kitchen but no funds right now. Eventually...

@ky29 - So happy for you! Whoo - hated the 3rd trimester though - just felt really uncomfie always, couldn't sleep, started getting leg cramps - blah. It is exciting to put the nursery together though and getting your house as ready as possible. I enjoyed my time off from work, short as it may have been. I wish our laws were like Europe's and Canada's in terms of maternity leave.

@Zero - my workplace is very much like that too - they will never fire the person, but try to give them less and less duties so hopefully that person will leave on their own, but they never do. So we're just stuck. Wow - glad your hubs found another job so quick. That's scary just quitting. Good to hear MIL has not been so intrusive anymore.

  • Hello, ladies!

My life is more of the same.  I think I mentioned last year that I became a SAHM.  My little guy is now 19 months old and becoming such a little person.  He doesn't have a ton of words yet but he understands EVERYTHING.  I'll give him a random instruction and am shocked at how often he knows exactly what I'm talking about.  Half the time I don't remember even telling him the name of whatever item I'm referencing.  It's crazy!  I may get a part time job soon but for now I am happy just hanging out with my son.

@ky29 - I am so, SO happy for you.  That baby is so lucky to have you as his mama.  Please keep us posted on how you're feeling.  I didn't mind 3rd trimester except for the 90+ degree heat waves in NYC (I almost passed out a few times on the subway which was awesome).  Thought, I should disclose I only lasted til 36w 3d before the little guy decided to make his appearance.
