I recenlty had to stop taking birth control due to getting a blood clot in my leg. For the timeline, I had my period late January and was scheduled to restart the pills on Jan 29, but did not. I have not had a period since. I estimated I was due on 2/22, but still have not had a period. I took 1 pregnancy test the day after my missed period and it was negative. I tried again last night, but the test didn't work (control didn't light up). How long before it is abnormal after stopping the pills is it to miss a period?
Re: When to test
It took me about 3-6 months after stopping the pill before I was semi-regular (35-40 days at that point - I went back on the pill soon after that because I met my now husband).
Everyone is different, though. The best time (so I've heard) to test is first thing in the morning. If it makes you feel better, test in the morning. Otherwise, your body has to come back down from all the hormones. Give it time.
