Favorite Games (clearly NBR..)

We are huge board/card game people as are our friends.  We're looking for some new ones to add in the rotation.
Here's what we love to play:
Munchkin
Monopoly
Cards Against Humanity
Werewolf
Catch Phrase
Spy Alley
Risk
Pictionary Man

We have Ticket to Ride but haven't played it just yet.

What are some of your favorites?

  • Apples to Apples is really fun, like a clean version of Cards Against Humanity lol.

  • It's not a board game, but we love Catchphrase. I like Trivial Pursuit, but no one ever wants to play that. :(

  • We're hooked on Ticket to Ride and Pandemic right now. We go through phases, but we play a lot of games. I love Catan and Dominion too. Do you like strategy games or more party-ish games?

  • I love:

    - Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot (not good for people who prefer strategy and winning, but it's hilarious)
    - San Juan (the card version of Puerto Rico)
    - Ticket to Ride Europe (I've read that it's more balanced than the original)
    - Settlers of Catan: Cities & Knights
    - Zombie Fried (test played it randomly at GenCon last year)

I also think I like Village, but I've hardly had a chance to play it.

We go between the two.  Sometimes we are playing party games and other times strategy.  I'll have to look up Dominion and Pandemic.  Are they similar in structure?

  • I'm laughing because our favorites, the ones we play all the time, haven't even been mentioned yet.
Please try Balderdash and Cranium. They are really fun! We also play Taboo sometimes.

  • Our current obsession is a card game called Dutch Blitz.  It's like an insanely complex version of speed but it's got it's own special deck.  We also love Ticket to Ride, Catan, Apples to Apples, The Game of Things, Speed Scrabble, and Word Yahtzee.

  • Phase 10
    Scategories
    Rummikub
    Taboo
Canasta (although I haven't played that is so long I can't even remember all the rules)

I've never convinced anyone to accept the learning curve of Agricola. :( We played once or twice using the condensed rules, but those clearly favor the largest family. I'd love to play it more since it gets such good reviews but alas...

  • To be fair @GilliC, I play with some pretty nerdy people. One year we went to a Mensa gathering as guests and played board games all weekend.

  • I love Trivial Pursuit.  Taboo, Life, Clue and Scategories are ok also.  I hate Monopoly for some reason.  We play more poker and euchre than board games.

  • We love Quelf.

  • @RhymeReason I am flying halfway around the world to go to GenCon! You'd think a few people would be interested. I think it might go over better now, but when I first picked it up, the sentiment was along the lines of "Why bother when we could being playing Catan?!"

We're into Pandemic and just got Forbidden Island but haven't played it yet. They seem similar in structure but different schemes.
  • @AyshM According to my gamer husband, Forbidden Island and Pandemic are made by the same company.  From what I could tell as we played at the cabin, they're pretty much the same thing, but different stories.  You're still collecting items, adding tiles, and each character has a different function.
