  I don't care to buy furniture online because I am the kind of person that likes to see it in person before buying it.  We have bought a few items online at IKEA before that store came to our city.  they are very reasonably priced.

  I was never a Big Lots person until I met my husband. They do have some nice furniture. We bought a TV stand from there that was a really decent price and is very nice. They might have some bedroom furniture.

  There's a small chain in the south can Southeastern Salvage that we go to frequently.  We pretty much furnished our living room from there.  You never know what you're going to find, and you're responsible for getting stuff home yourself, but the deals can be amazing.

  I like Nebraska Furniture Mart, but I think it's pretty regional. I'm about 2 hours away from a store and the delivery charge was about $50.

  Yes!! We have a ton of NFM stuff that was super cheap that I would love to get rid of but it still looks brand new seven years later.

  Consider quality used wood pieces from an estate sale or consignment shop.  Some good pieces from the past can far exceed today's furniture in quality.

  I second Joss & Main! Other flash sale sites like Gilt and RueLaLa specialize in clothes but also offer home furnishings. I would also suggest checking out Wayfair - we just purchased our headboard and fireplace mantels at bargain prices and they have a FANTASTIC return policy!

  Random FYI: Wayfair actually owns Joss & Main.  I've ordered from Wayfair before.  Never ordered from Joss & Main, but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if something popped up that we really loved.  Our experiences with Wayfair were very good, and I would expect the same of Joss & Main.

  I've had good experiences with Joss & Main, just keep in mind that while it's stylish and current, it's not high end by any means. Their items photograph very well, let's say. For the prices they actually sell for it's quite decent, but I haven't found anything yet for which I would consider paying what they cite as the "regular" price. When putting together a chaise from there we were actually pretty appalled at the fasteners and the tolerances thereof; once assembled, though, it looks great and seems to be holding up well.
