NMMR: Prayer Request (XP with The Knot) -- Updated in Thread
I debated whether or not to post this, but I don't want to be one of "those people" who posts everything to Facebook to be an AW so I'm going to post this here to get it out of my system.
My dad is in ICU awaiting open heart surgery tomorrow morning. It will most likely be a triple bypass, but that could change once they get in the OR and see exactly what is going on. He has been in ICU all week after going to the hospital on Monday for a heart cath and stents. They couldn't do the stents and they put in a balloon pump to help his heart rest and get more oxygen flowing.
He is in good spirits but we are all tired and worn down. I'm worried he won't survive the surgery, he is 78 years old and has had a stroke about 10 years ago. I know this is a common surgery and his chances are good, but I'm still worried.
Please pray (or whatever you believe in) for my Dad, the surgeon and the medical team who will be working on him tomorrow.

Nursing homes for rehab kind of suck. My step dad always stayed in one and he was lonely and bored. When I was 10 we had a community service trip where was staying. We hadn't been able to visit him in the hospital so I hadn't seen him in several days. I actually found his room and ended up napping in bed with him instead. The teachers had to get a nurse to convince me to come back to school.

@AprilZ81, just saw this post and glad to hear things are going well, all things considered. One of my coworkers had a quad bypass about a year ago and I was amazed at how quick his recovery was and how much healthier he seemed after it. It is just incredible what doctors/staff/hospitals can do nowadays.
I hope his strong recovery continues. My prayers go out to you and your family.
I’m sure it must be a great relief for you and your family that your dad’s surgery was successful. Praying for his complete recovery.
