The Martian - now with spoilers

Holy crap!  I was totally yelling at the crew in the beginning.

Re: The Martian - now with spoilers

  • I know. I can't even count the amount of times my heart was racing during this book. Every dang time he took that rover out I was nervous. And I just felt so defeated for him each time something broke, or didn't work.

  • I know! I was so upset when he lost communication with NASA after the drill thing.

  • This post is bringing back all the feels I had about this book when I first finished it.

  • I finished this in two days! It was so good and I had to know what happened! This is the one book I got my H to read last year.

My favorite snark was Mark's comment about reviewing the laptop that failed because of the cold temperatures. It was something like I took your product to Mars and it broke. No stars.

@duxcaelo Yes!  I was laughing out loud and DH said, "I thought you were reading about a guy stranded on Mars.  Why is that funny??"

  • I asked J if he was ever planning on reading it.  When he said no, I gave him the play by play each night.  He was almost as riveted as I was!

  • For me, I didn't expect the humor and I'm not sure why I didn't.  I guess I thought that the whole life and death thing would have been enough for anyone to handle.  But I loved the humor.  My favorite was in the beginning of the book.  After they realized he was alive still and were trying to guess what he was thinking.  "I wonder what the Cubs are doing."

  • I cracked up out loud several times during this book.  Mark reminded me of my husband with his smart-assy-ness and then how actually SMART he was.  It boggled my mind how he could manage to do everything that he did.  It was pretty amazing.  I would have died.  Period.  I would have blown myself up somehow and died.

I LOVED the laptop part.  No stars.

I have been recommending the hell out of this thing.  I wish everyone would read it.

     "Live like there's no midnight."

  • I recommended it to a candidate that I interviewed the other day.  And the hiring managers.  I have no idea if the hiring managers actually read or not.
