Where's your favorite place to buy maxi dresses/skirts?  I'm SO ready for spring/summer.

I love maxi skirts, it's so easy to dress them up or down. There are great selections at Marshall's and TJ Maxx that are nicer brands (Calvin Klein, DKNY). For cheaper ones I like to buy the $9 ones you can find at Wet Seal and Forever 21 in the mall. They have a lot of solids and fun prints and I haven't found the quality to be any worse than the more expensive ones. I also found that Amazon sells some good quality maxi skirts that are around $20 and fit true to size. Usually I'm reluctant to buy clothes online because I try EVERYTHING on. The most recent onese I bought were from here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MAQK9AI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Hooray for warm weather!!

  • Thanks @FirstMate06!  I checked my few regular places and they were just . . . boring.  I'm not super into florals, but I'll take the right ones. I'll definitely check Marshalls/TJ Maxx.  I always for get about them!

  • I am convinced that you have to be at least 6 feet tall to wear a maxi dress/skirt.

I bought one last year at the Loft (in the petite section no less) and I still trip over it.

With that said, I did buy two maxi skirts at Target in the Girls section and they actually are a decent length on me.  But I feel absolutely ridiculous being over 40 and shopping in the girls section.

That's not a bad idea though.  I need at least petite and usually I have to hem them.  I'm 5'1"

    I don't hem things.  I hate sewing.

I should clarify.  I ask my mom to hem them.  I don't know how to use a sewing machine.

  • I am 5'0 and I bought a black Maxi skirt at Meijer. I do have to roll over the elastic top once but it is a good length and I paid $10.
  • All my maxi dresses are from Old Navy and my maxi skirts are from Target.

I do this as well. I feel weird about it but oh well. They fit and are cheaper.

  • I love maxi dresses and skirts! I buy mine at different places. Old Navy has a lot of cute options, but I have to try them on because sometimes the cut/fit is weird. I bought one recently at Sam's, which seemed a little weird, but I love it. JCrew sometimes has dresses that I like. I've had some luck with them on Jane.com and Hautelook when they have their big dress sales. I bought a maternity maxi dress from Asos and want to look into their regular sizes for the summer too.

LOFT usually has some cute petite options. Old Navy does, too, but they wash horribly. I do the whole buy from the kids section thing, too. Makes me feel ridiculous but it works!

  • I'm 5'3" and I've picked up quite a few in the juniors department at Macy's that didn't need to be hemmed.

  • I have found some really cute maxi dresses at Walmart & jcpenney

Have you looked at Long Tall Sally www.longtallsally.com? I've bought quite a bit of stuff there, their quality is great.

  • I'm 5'3" and mine are all from Target.  I wear them slightly higher on my stomach than I normally would wear a skirt, but I pretend the top stretchy part is Spanx that holds in all the gelato.

Bah! I am dying! I thought I was the only one. In my case it would be pasta, not gelato though. :)
