Actually, it's more sad than anything. They'd only have to wade through one page to get caught up.

State Senator is under federal indictment for corruption charges. His son was already convicted in a related case.
On New Year's Eve, the Mayor's girlfriend smashed a glass over the head of a woman who was speaking to him. (She was eventually arrested for assault, but not until just a few weeks ago.) Oh, and that's not the first time she's been in drunken brawls -- at a campaign event the mayor had to restrain her by putting her in a headlock until police could take her away after she'd assaulted someone else.
In the meantime, the Mayor calls the employer of his girlfriend's latest victim to discuss the case. He's now being sued by the victim, who claims that he was trying to influence her employer to encourage her not to press charges, and she feels her job has been threatened.
Our County Executive has a new harassment lawsuit against her, too. A sheriff's deputy claims she felt she was forced to retire early because of the harassment, which included following her and photographing her, having her vehicle tracked and various other forms of stalking. The sheriff's deputy is dating a neighboring town's parks dept. supervisor, who was a former employee of the County Exec (in her old job before elected to her current position) and is likely someone she was/is having an affair with.
Then there is the Chief of Police. Chief Disgusting (the name fits and is similar sounding to his actual name). There is such a sordid history of sexual misconduct and corruption there. Now there is a female officer who has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment and there are more than 20 current and retired officers lined up to testify against him. When she first made the allegations the mayor did nothing -- no wait, he did do something, he went roadtripping with the Chief to a college basketball game that night. His own girlfriend (the glass-smashing-over-heads one) had complained to him in the past about the Chief's advances but he doesn't believe her or doesn't care. Finally, after three weeks the chief was put on adminstrative leave, after the female officer filed a complaint with the State's Human Rights Division. But apparently being on leave means you can still carry your gun, your badge, your city-issued ipad and phone, and drive your city-owned SUV powered by city-paid-for gas to the precinct where you hang out all day. There is soooo much more to the Chief's story. But this is already so long.
I'm predicting the next to fall will be our DA who is also dirty and involved up to his neck with the Mayor and the Chief. If some of the rumors are true that have been swirling around and the feds start investigating, watch out!
You can see why my attention has been diverted. It's CRAZY around here.
