Re: Thursday Randoms

  • I'm in a serious depression over how dead this board is.  What can we do?????
    imageimage image
  • I agree.  I almost felt weird making my post about maxi dresses.  It's become habitual not to post that I felt really strange doing it.

  • I am determined not to let this board die.  I love you all too much!  Let's book club again.

  • Also, I think we all need to  Bat Signal our FB friends.  If I see "Oh, I don't go to NBC anymore, I wouldn't know where to start wading through all those posts" one more time.  X(

Actually, it's more sad than anything.  They'd only have to wade through one page to get caught up. :((

I keep getting whiffs of whiskey in my office.

I swear there is not a drop of liquor here. And yet...

  • Me too. It's a bummer to create a post that nobody comments on.

  • I come in here every night but I usually don't have a lot to say anymore.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • Regardless of how I feel about the book/movie, I am completely obsessed with the 50SoG soundtrack. Especially "Earned It" by The Weekend.
I write sexy books. I read all the books. I love dresses & macarons.

  • My reading has taken a backseat because I am obsessed with the unbelievable local political climate.  It's seriously a soap opera, except more over the top.  (At least it's helping me not miss Empire so much now that season 1 is over.)

State Senator is under federal indictment for corruption charges.  His son was already convicted in a related case.

On New Year's Eve, the Mayor's girlfriend smashed a glass over the head of a woman who was speaking to him.  (She was eventually arrested for assault, but not until just a few weeks ago.)  Oh, and that's not the first time she's been in drunken brawls -- at a campaign event the mayor had to restrain her by putting her in a headlock until police could take her away after she'd assaulted someone else.

In the meantime, the Mayor calls the employer of his girlfriend's latest victim to discuss the case.  He's now being sued by the victim, who claims that he was trying to influence her employer to encourage her not to press charges, and she feels her job has been threatened.

Our County Executive has a new harassment lawsuit against her, too.  A sheriff's deputy claims she felt she was forced to retire early because of the harassment, which included following her and photographing her, having her vehicle tracked and various other forms of stalking.  The sheriff's deputy is dating a neighboring town's parks dept. supervisor, who was a former employee of the County Exec (in her old job before elected to her current position) and is likely someone she was/is having an affair with.

Then there is the Chief of Police.  Chief Disgusting (the name fits and is similar sounding to his actual name).  There is such a sordid history of sexual misconduct and corruption there.  Now there is a female officer who has come forward with allegations of sexual harassment and there are more than 20 current and retired officers lined up to testify against him.  When she first made the allegations the mayor did nothing -- no wait, he did do something, he went roadtripping with the Chief to a college basketball game that night.  His own girlfriend (the glass-smashing-over-heads one) had complained to him in the past about the Chief's advances but he doesn't believe her or doesn't care.  Finally, after three weeks the chief was put on adminstrative leave, after the female officer filed a complaint with the State's Human Rights Division.  But apparently being on leave means you can still carry your gun, your badge, your city-issued ipad and phone, and drive your city-owned SUV powered by city-paid-for gas to the precinct where you hang out all day.  There is soooo much more to the Chief's story.  But this is already so long.

I'm predicting the next to fall will be our DA who is also dirty and involved up to his neck with the Mayor and the Chief.  If some of the rumors are true that have been swirling around and the feds start investigating, watch out!

You can see why my attention has been diverted.  It's CRAZY around here.
  • I miss the days of 5 page confessions posts.  I don't even remember what got them to 5 pages, but they were fun. I feel like everyone used to look forward to Fridays on NBC.

I want to post more. March has sucked for me. April will be better right?!?
I miss you guys so much.
  • I know it isn't Thursday anymore, but I haven't been posting on the board very much for quite some time. My reading has been nonexistent for a while and I check in pretty regularly, but haven't had much to post or contribute. It is really sad though.

Just don't abandon us for the FB baby board.  I love that place, it's awesome, but I feel like we've lost so many people!

I don't care if you (collective you) don't read much any more, please post anyway!!!

  • I know it's not Thursday any more, but I really, really want to go look at this old colonial house in a neighboring town.  I think from the lack of kitchen pictures, it probably needs an overhaul of at least that, but it has 4 gorgeous acres and a butler's pantry!! We aren't even looking into moving, but I was day dreaming and now i really want to go look.  I'm sure J is going to rain on my parade, so I need to squee somewhere.  We want a forever home the next time we move so I for the right house, I expect it might need some work.

  • @SnShne322 go look at it! John wasn't ready to buy when I found our house and when I finally got him to go look at it we were both sold. It needed work too and we've been slowly chipping away at those things over the past 4 years.

  • My random:  I bought 4 of the same pair of Frozen sunglasses for my daughter because I kept forgetting I'd already bought them.

My confession:  I think I've only finished 2 books this year.  So very unlike me.  :/
