Loss commemoration? (LR obviously)

Sadly, I know that there are several ladies on here who have been through this...

I was planning to get a tattoo this weekend (Lincoln's little foot prints and a tiny heart), but I realized yesterday that I can't because I'm on Lovenox currently to get ready for round 2. DH and I want to do something this weekend to commemorate our lil guy's EDD, but we can't figure out what. We are thinking about going for a hike in Sedona that we love with the pups, but I would love to hear how others have memorialized their little one(s) on or around their EDD.

TIA

Re: Loss commemoration? (LR obviously)

  • I don't know why, but I never felt at attachment to mine's due date. I do feel it on his birthday though. On the one year anniversary, H and I spent the day at the coast. For the second anniversary, we went to lunch and then rented jet skis. I always want his birthday to be a day we celebrate him. It can be different every year, but I want/need the celebration.

I did go see a tattoo artist and was going to get something, but never ended up doing it. Maybe someday but so far, there have been random obstacles that make me think it may not be the best decision for me.

  • I'm planning on getting a tattoo one day as well. This year, we just spent the day together really and did our best to remember how lucky we were. Really, I couldn't beat the sad.

@brij2006 did something with her H back in June, releasing a lantern and got them photographed. It was beautiful.

  • We set off sky lanterns together and with our parents. We had a photographer capture the moment for us, and we love that we have those. If I wasn't on mobile, I would post a few. Our plan is that we will continue to set them off around the EDD each year.

  • On J and Zs EDD (the original one) we went to dinner and sent off a blue and a pink balloon. This year, I took their birthday off from work and we spent time as a family. EDD makes me sad and in a funk, but like ILRV said, it hasnt had as much of an effect as their birthday.

I love you tattoo idea, one day (when I'm brave) I want to get the same one of each of their footprints on my foot <3

  • Since we thought DH was going to have to work today, yesterday, we went for a beautiful hike in the rain with the pups. Then, we went to dinner. Last night and this morning were pretty rough, but we're going to be okay.

DH ended up taking the day off, so it's been nice having him around unexpectedly. He actually made a little model airplane for Lincoln and "gave it to him" this morning when I went to pick up bagels for breakfast. We have a shelf that has a few momentos on it that he added to. <3

    Thanks for asking, ILRV.

  • This is a little late for your comemoration, but a very close friend of mine lost 3 pregnancies (one was very close to the due date) and she found comfort in planting a tree for each of her angels.   I always thought that was a really beautiful way to memorialize them.
