Loving my credit card today!
We had the information from one of our credit cards stolen, some time in the last week, several hotel/restaurant charges were charged to the account overnight. Before I even had an opportunity to check the account this morning I had an e-mail and phone call from the fraud department, the charges were immediately removed, and our new cards will arrive tomorrow.
When I had my debit card information stolen 5 years ago getting those clearly fradulent charges (grocery store purchases in the UK) cleared took a trip to the bank, hours with one of the bankers, and a submission of my passport to prove I had not been out of the country to get the charges forgiven, and it took 6 weeks for them to be removed from my account. I was never notified of potentially fraudulent activity.

Re: Loving my credit card today!
So happy to hear that!! I've had fraudulent charges on a Visa and an AmEx credit card in the past 5 years and I was amazed how easy it was to get those resolved. Hearing horror stories about trying to recoup money lost from a compromised debit card definitely made me scale back my checking account balance and use my debit card only for ATM transactions.
Thanks for sharing the happy story
Our credit union has been good about notifying us about any suspicious charges and was pretty good when our debit card was compromised, but they were so slow about sending a new card which was a pain!
I had the same experience with my Barclays card! A $1 charge went through my account on a Thursday....that is what the scammers do to make sure a credit card number is valid before selling it.
Nothing on Friday
Then on Saturday morning, there were 11 charges that tried to go through within about one hour. Barclay's briefly put a hold on them until they talked to me. They called me literally within a few minutes of those 11 transactions trying to go through. I verified it was not me. In fact, while I was on the phone, a 12th charge tried to go through. They blocked all the charges that were pending...though the first few had already gone through. They assured me I wouldn't be responsible for any of the fraudulent charges. They cancelled my card and had a new one sent out to me while I was literally on the phone.
Although it was upsetting, I was amazed and impressed how quickly they were on top of it and that they made things so easy for me.
