Easter

I can't wait for Sunday. M has been talking about the Easter bunny hiding eggs for a week now. I went to Walmart to get stuff for M's basket and eggs. I spent more then I should of, but I was looking for little things to put in the eggs too. We still have candy left from Halloween!! For the eggs, I picked up some hair bows, "fancy" rings and jelly bracelets she can keep in her jewelry box and some "little people" figurines that will hopefully fit into big eggs. I'm also going to use some M&M's that one of the kids gave me for Christmas.

Her "basket" will be a Minnie mouse bucket. To go in it will be a bathing suit, a summer outfit, sunglasses (3 pair that were in clearance for $1!), scented markers, a thermos, bubbles and pink tools.for the garden. I also splurged and bought a doc McStuffins doctor set. She loves playing doctor with us and her stuffed animals but the one she has is too small. This one makes real sounds. :)

Re: Easter

  • She's one lucky girl!! I don't plan on grieving Bear anything for Easter this year, but I probably will next year!
  • AWE FUN!!!

I got E a leap frog picnic basket, she loves anything that sings lol.  They are usually $24 and were at BJ's for like $10.  Then I got her little teddy bears that are dressed like a chick, frog and bunny.  I ordered an Easter tub with her name on it so I can reuse it each year... I should follow up on that.  It's from a friend.  I'd like it by Easter, but not going to worry if it's late.

  • aw man I feel like a mean mom by not getting Bear anything...maybe I should do a little shopping:)

  • I try to get M summer things she will need or use outside. Bathing suits and sunglasses. When she was 14 months, her basket had a big ball, a book, yogurt melts, etc. I bet he would like shaking the plastic eggs if there was something noisy in them. :)

  • @amccul20 don't feel bad. I don't usually get Chase anything either. Well, I haven't as he's gotten older. Easter isn't really a gift giving holiday for us either though.

@mrsskiz when I was growing up we always got an easter basket with chocolate and a small goodie or two. I just feel like Bear's so young, it doesn't matter yet
  • Easter has never been a big "gift" holiday in my family either.  I only ever got candy when I was little.  And a fancy dress, obvi.

Now you have me wondering if I should be getting something for G, though...
  • I love any opportunity to give gifts. Haha. The hard part is figuring out stuff to put in the eggs. My mom did change, but she's too young to understand that.

Not necessary at all! Is she allowed to have jelly beans? You could get her some of those

I'd stay away from chewy candy. We had a dental hygienist come and talk to the kids and she said dentist would rather see a kid eat a smartie or M&M if they were having candy. Anything chewy esp fruit snacks stay stick on teeth for a long time.

  • Maybe I'll go to Barnes and Noble during my lunch tomorrow and get a book.  It will have to be spring-themed, though, since anything that actual relates to Easter would be off-limits.

    Why is Easter off limits?

Anything relating to religion is with my sister.  When we hosted Easter brunch one year we couldn't say grace because she found it offensive.  Meanwhile, H's grandfather was an Episcopal priest, so things like saying grace on EASTER are kind of important to him...

    Of course it is.

:| So did you skip it? My theory is"my house, my rules". And what does she say about Christmas.

We did.  Upsetting my sister is not an option in my family.

And Christmas is also to be Jesus-free.  They were actually thinking about not doing the "Santa thing" as well.  I'm hoping they have realized that is RIDICULOUS!  Take away the religious side of Christmas AND the secular side, and what's left?!?!
