  • 1) Who cooks in your household? Umm...I guess both, but really neither. We haven't made a dinner more complicated than a sandwich, pizza (frozen) or pasta in probably over 9 months. I plan on that changing once our doctorates are complete!

    2) Your most common meal? Pasta or Pizza
    3) Who does the dishes? Both but we are lazy and they do often pile up before we attack the ktichen
    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? Bowl of cereal or poptarts, mainly fast breakfast type foods
    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that? Normally just a main course although back when I used to make a real dinner then they normally would have a side or two

Now, for the meal planners...What's for dinner this week?

  • 1) Who cooks in your household? I am always the cook.
    2) Your most common meal? Spaghetti and garlic bread - pretty much once a week. It's easy and everyone loves it.
    3) Who does the dishes? My husband, or my brother in law (he lives with us).  Although, I do dishes as I cook because I cannot stand dirty dishes in the sink for even 5 minutes. I am very OCD about it. I freak the F out, TBH.
    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? Cereal or toast.
    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that? We always have sides. Growing up, we usually had salad, main course, sides, and dessert, so I just can't kick the habit. We usually have a main course, a starch, and a veggie. Thankfully, I don't need the dessert part included with every meal.

Monday: Black Pepper Sausages that I didn't end up having last week
    Tuesday: N/A Wine night
Wednesday: Braised Beef Ragu and Polenta, brocccoli
Thursday: Sauteed Chicken with Mustard Herb Sauce, Mushroom and Pecorino Orzo, and Asparagus
Friday: Spaghetti with homemade sauce, garlic bread

  • 1) Who cooks in your household? Both of us, but mostly me.

    2) Your most common meal?  Probably spaghetti or tacos

    3) Who does the dishes? Me, but DS likes to "help". He's 4.

    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? Grilled Ham & Cheese with Tomato Soup

    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that?  Full meals. Gotta eat those veggies

Now, for the meal planners...What's for dinner this week?

Monday: Pork Tenderloin with roasted Redskin potatoes and balsalmic-glazed carrots.

    Tuesday: Baked Spaghetti & Salad

Wednesday: Leftover eaten as quickly as possible before T-Ball

Thursday: Grilled Smoked Sausages, Mashed Potatoes, Mixed Veggies

Friday: Maybe Brinner, not sure yet.

This is a favorite of mine as well. I just used canned biscuits, so no recipe for those. For the gravy I just brown some Jimmy Dean's regular ground sausage (the kind in the tube shape) in a frying pan. Once browned, I slowly sprinkle flour on top until coated. I don't usually measure it, but I am guessing it is about 1/2 Cup. Once coated, I slowly pour in whole milk, stirring it the whole time. Again, I don't measure, but you could add 1/2 cup at a time until it is the consistency you like. It will thicken as all the flour gets incorporated. Oh, and some pepper to taste.

  • 1) Who cooks in your household?  I'm in charge from Monday morning through Friday lunch, and husband is in charge Friday dinner through Sunday dinner.  We pretty much eat out all the time on the weekends. :)

    2) Your most common meal?  Tacos.

    3) Who does the dishes?  The dishwasher.  Who loads/unloads the dishwasher?  Me.

    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal?  The lentil soup that they sell at Costco in a bag of 4 soups that you cook for 60s in the microwave.  Done and done.

    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that?  Always have a salad, a main course, a starch (pasta, rice, or some kind of potato) and sometimes a vegetable.  The only cooked non-potato vegetable my kids will willingly eat is edamame so the vegetable is usually just an exercise in trying "new" foods.  I'm told I shouldn't overly worry because my kids are huge salad eaters, but it bugs me that they refuse just about everything.

    Today: swordfish on the grill
order depends on how I feel and if I remember to thaw it:
    Tacos
Chicken perhaps marinated in Italian dressing
    Breaded tilapia

I do it the lazy way.  I used canned biscuits, jimmy dean maple sausage and pioneer brand country sausage gravy mix.  It's a quick and easy meal.

  • 1) Who cooks in your household? I do, unless it's grilling
    2) Your most common meal? Stew
    3) Who does the dishes? I do
    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? I end up grazing on cheese and fruit and deli meat.
    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that? It varies.  If it is an all in one main dish with veggies, then I pair it with a salad.  If it's stew, then that's usually all we have.  But if the main dish is a just a meat, the I pair it with veggies.

    My menu this week...

Monday : sweet potato chips nachos

    Tuesday : Enchilada chicken stew

Wednesday: brussels sprouts with apple and bacon and sausage

Thursday : whole lemon chicken in the crock pot with asparagus

Friday : sweet potato lo mein

    1) Who cooks in your household? Exclusively me, and I am OK with that
    2) Your most common meal? Something with either chicken, shrimp, salmon, or tuna.
    3) Who does the dishes? DH (Woot!). Share and share alike. I cook, he cleans.
    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? Pasta and jarred sauce if need be, but that's rare. Or we order pizza.
    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that? I'm a big fan of one pot-type meals when I can get veggies, meat, and carbs all in one (Ok, so the rice cooker makes two pots, but still), but that doesn't always work. For the most part we have full meals. I feel like a cheater when I make something like shrimp and grits without a veggie of some sort. I've been known to add veggies to recipes that don't call for them, esp. if I am making some variety of Asian food.

  • 1) Who cooks in your household? -- I do.  DH will cook maybe once every 4-5 months
    2) Your most common meal? -- I vary my meals often, so I don't really have too many repeats, but in the 4 years I've lived with DH, I think I've repeated these the most:  smothered green beans & potatoes, Macaroni Mickey Mousse, beans & rice, and huevos rancheros
    3) Who does the dishes? -- we do them together, we do not have a dishwasher so we alternate who washes and who dries & puts away
    4) What is your go to "I don't have time for this but need nourishment of some sort" meal? -- egg drop soup & frozen spring rolls, or pancakes
    5) Do you typically have full meals with sides, etc., or do you have a main course and leave it at that? -- I plan complete meals, though most of those are casserole or one dish meals, with everything all in one.  I rarely plan meals with side dishes.

Now, for the meal planners...What's for dinner this week?
Tuesday:  leftover mushroom ragout over polenta
    Wednesday:  French Bread Pizzas
Thursday:  Red Bean Burgers, Corn on the Cob
Friday:  Fluffy Oat Bran Pancakes with Cherry Syrup
Saturday:   Baked Ziti, America's Favorite Batter Bread
Sunday:  Easter Dinner at IL's, I'm bringing a Kentucky Butter Cake for dessert
    Monday:  Spaghetti Jaffles, Yogurt Fluff
