Re: QOTD 4/2

  • YES, but man they are getting expensive.  The last one we went to was Busch Gardens and it was $65 for a day pass!  (5 years ago)  WTF?!  We used to go to Hershey Park all the time.

  • I hate roller coasters, so I really don't have any desire to go to amusement parks.  I don't mind going, but we don't ever go.  Like mana said, they are so expensive, especially with kids.

  • I used to, not so much anymore.  I like fairs, carnivals, and arcades better.

  • I do, but I haven't been to one in a long time. H doesn't really like rides, so he's not really a fan. I do agree that the price is getting a bit outrageous, especially for families.

  • Disney 100% but that is more than an amusement park.

I love Hershey, Busch Gardens, Universal, etc as well.

If the park is mostly focused on roller coasters though, it's not so much for me because DH isn't a big fan of them and I get headaches if I don't take motion sickness pills beforehand.

  • YES. H and I are roller coaster junkies. I hate how expensive they are, but it's usually worth it!

  • This is what DH and I would look like on a roller coaster.

  • I love them. H is iffy depending on what all is there ride wise since he gets motion sick.

I do agree with prior posts though--prices tend to be a big factor into why I don't go anymore. When I was in high school/college, I was able to get cheap tickets for Kennywood (one of the Pittsburgh parks and the place where H proposed to me) for probably less than $20 through my mom's work. It is currently $42 according to their website.

Our work actually does their company picnic at another park nearby, but I have only attended once since they started holding it there. I felt I was entirely too old to be there. A good bit of stuff was actually closed and the few that were open, I couldn't go on unless I rode by myself since I was with H. I figure if I do go back, it will be either a) when I have a family of my own or b) when the nieces and nephew are old enough.
I did have to include this nugget though. One of the sections of the park is dedicated to fairy tales/nursery rhymes/stories. The only photographic evidence of me being at my work picnic is a picture of me in a giant walkthrough statue designed for small children.

  • I used to love amusement parks and thrill rides.  H absolutely loves them, would probably go to one every day if he could.  When we went to Las Vegas a few summers ago, we went on a bunch of roller coasters and I was majorly freaking out.  On the last roller coaster we went on, I told H I wanted to get off the ride as it was traveling up the first hill.  My 25 year old self would have made fun of 30 year old self for hours.
