Aurora Teagarden

Has anyone read this series?  It's a murder mystery series by Charlaine Harris.  I follow Candace Cameron on different social media sites and she is starring in the movie series airing on the Hallmark Channel based on these books.  I know CH isn't the best writer based on the direction the Sookie books went, but I'm curious about this series.
Siggy coming soon....

I've read these. They were fun enough. The protagonist belongs to a real murders book club and people in her group start dying and she amateur investigates the murders. Shenanigans ensue. I gave the series an average of 3 stars. Mysteries aren't generally my genre but I wanted to read all of CH's books.

  • Yeah that sounds like something fluffy that I could read between heavy books.  I will have to check them out!

  • I just looked up the movie. It looks like they're doing the second book in the series (A Bone to Pick) instead of Real Murders. I wonder why they're skipping that one.

I just watched it. It was cute. Definitely had that Hallmark-esque feel to it but otherwise it was ok. The ending felt smooshed together, like they realized they only had 10 minutes left, and I feel like Marilu Henner phoned it in for the most part, plus there were a lot of convenient leaps of logic that felt too easy. I also swear I remember Roe's character as not having much of a personality but Candace Cameron Bure plays her as very likable. It's been a while since I read the books, though, so that may have been true for the narrative, too, but things always get lost from book to screen. All that said, though, they're going to do another one this summer, and I'll probably watch that one, too.
