When was the last time you lost power? How long was the longest you were without power?

I think the blizzard of 2014 we lost it for a while. In tornado season, it's a common occurrence.

We lost power a few weeks ago. H was out of town, so I was by myself. I was watching TV and suddenly the TV shut off...it was the middle of the day, so I got up to test if the lights were working or if the cable just went out. Nope no power...luckily, it was only out for about 30 minutes.

The longest I was without power was overnight when I was a kid. I don't remember exactly how long it was out for, but I remember that we ate dinner at my aunt's house since she lived on the other side of town which had power.

We loose power all the time at the office. It's very annoying and frustrating.

At home, it's been a long time. The last time I was out of power for an extended period of time was back in 2004ish when we had a really bad winter.

We lost power this morning at about 7:50. It sucked. We had hot water though which was good.

The longest I remember the power being out was for 5 or 6 days because of the October 4, 1987 snowstorm. The only reason I remember the date is because it was my brother's birthday and he was having a campout. We had about a foot of heavy wet snow that caused huge amounts of trees to fall because they still had their leaves. It was a mess.

A couple weeks ago because it was really windy, it was only for a few minutes.

The longest was Hurricane Irene (??) in October 2012, we got back from our honeymoon and had no power for several days, we ended up staying with my parents.

Longest for us was oct 2011, the big snow storm we got for Halloween. We had just moved in to my in laws to save for wedding/house. Think we were out of power for 3-4 days. When we finally went back to get last of our stuff from our apt none of the clocks were blinking and we realized the apt had never lost power and we should have just stayed put til after the storm lol

Last time was Hurricane Sandy but it was only a few hours.

Longest was after a t-storm summer of... 2005? I was home from college and it was out for 6 days. Our neighbors had power so we had a power cord going from their garage to our refridgerator. And I went to work just to be in AC since it was 98 degree. I think 300,000 people were out powr and we a very small grid.

I think the last time we lost power was in the summer of 2008 maybe. We had this weird storm, similar to a tornado, but the wind blows straight and powerful. There was enough hail that the city needed to dig out the plow trucks. Trees were down all over. Power was out for probably a day.

The longest we went without power was the Northeast Blackout of 2003. It was the largest blackout in history or something. We didn't have power for a few days.

The last time I remember was in 2011, we had bad tornadoes on April 27th. I don't remember how long power was out then. I can't remember the longest we went without.

We lost power last Thursday for about 5 hours (we were only home for about 3 1/2 hours of the power loss, though) when lightning struck the main transformer. The longest we were without power was during the ice storm of 2006 (?). We were without power for 3-4 days.

We lost our power at the house last month for probably a little under a half hour. We made due by just cuddling in the living room while using my maglite as a makeshift lamp. Longest we've been without was a little shy of two hours. It was H's birthday and I was freaking out trying to prioritize if it was more important to keep the perishable groceries cold or the ice cream cake. H and I went to the grocery store to go get ice and it was back on by the time we got home.

The worst in recent memory had to be work a few summers ago. We had a worn down power line outside that had overheated and split. The entire building lost power and had to be evacuated because they were worried the building wiring was going to catch fire. They finally gave us the go ahead to go back in, but we still barely had power. Only two rooms had electricity because of backup generators, so my department was stuck having to bring all our portable equipment over to run tests. (Thankfully by the time they gave us the green light to come back, my shift was over, so I missed out on the rest of the craziness)
