Michelle and Am

How did your handmade items do on your Etsy store? Do you get any business?

Re: Michelle and Am

  • They did ok. I sold a few pairs but also didn't put too much umph into marketing and all that. Also the items I were making were also made and sold by tons of people.

  • My step mom makes quilts. I saw that there were a lot on there but some seemed to be poor quality.
  • Exactly what Am said.  I had items that were pretty common and other than Facebook or word of mouth, my marketing was pretty much nil.  I just wasn't ready to fork over large sums for ads.  I was hoping to build up business a bit before doing that.  At this point, I have my Facebook page open for orders, but I'm not actively pursuing business.

I honestly think I would need to do two things to really make it work.  Have a ready made stash on hand to sell and start at local fairs and such with a booth. But I don't have the money on hand to build up a stash.  Maybe eventually.
