Latisse Knockoff?

I would really love to try Latisse but don't want to pay the $$ for it. Does anyone know of a generic and if so where to puchase it? Thanks!

Re: Latisse Knockoff?

  • I have ordered a generic version that required no prescription. But I started with Latisse first. The generic version comes from India and that is why a RX is not needed. Some people may be skeptical, but I have ordered twice from them and also ordered retin-A from them. The cost is ridiculously low, but the shipping is $25 since it comes from out of the country. Many gals from makeupalley.com have ordered from them as well with no problems.

    ETA:

Do you know about the possible side effects? Includes, but not limited to darkening of the eyelids and possible darkening of the eye. So if you have light eyes, this would be a potential deterrent for use. This is why I wanted to try Latisse first. Latisse is not a new product, the active ingredient's original purpose was to treat cataracts. The side effect of cataract patients was long lashes/hair growth. Now they repackaged the product and market it as a lash lenghtener and the price is ridiculous. There are over the counter products out there with lower doses marketed as lash growth. You can find them in department stores.

  • medsmex.com also has the generic with no prescription for $50 plus I think $10 for shipping. I heard about that on Makeup Alley as well. A lot of girls on there order their Retin-a from there. I have not gone through them though..

Here is the direct link. It is $10 per bottle and $25 for shipping. I order a few bottles at a time to make the most of my shipping.

  • Your not worried about using your credit card or giving your information. How are the products?

  • i personally do not think it is a good idea to buy an actual medication overseas. it may have a different chemical make up, contain contaminants, be counterfeit, or not have the same quality standards as the FDA regulated latisse. this is certainly not a risk i would be willing to take with a medication that could potentially go into my eye. just sayin'!

I would be scared too, and would not want my information and credit card information on a site that sells medications that normally would need a prescription.

  • a different option would be a visa gift card. Or using a card you do not use much and then cancelling it right after and requesting a new one.
  • also, don't think the FDA is so flawless. I have a client who handles case studies (writes reports) for FDA and she literally told me that so many of the things that are approved should NOT be and that MANY are in the process of being re-examined at all times but never get un-regulated.

For example. She was doing a report on un-approving Frontline for pets. It had hundreds of thosands of cases of animal deaths from it JUST last year. That was months ago and it's still approved.

If you think the FDA is bad, how good do you feel the regulatory agencies are in countries like India?

With illegally imported drugs, which is what the OP is looking for, there is no way of knowing what you're getting. It could be bitamoprost, which is for glaucoma, BTW, not cataracts. It could be water. It could be Clorox bleach.

You realize that India doesn't acknowledge intellectual property laws, so they're subverting patent protection--that's why the drugs are cheaper. How do you feel about fake handbags? Is that OK?

I don't work with veterinary drugs, so I don't know what the approval process is in that arm of the FDA. However, I've seen human drugs get yanked by the FDA when the risk/benefit ratio is no longer favorable. With a cosmetic product, the threshold is pretty low.

believe me, in no way do i believe that the FDA is flawless. but i do completely believe that an FDA approved drug is superior to an "unknown" drug procured from india.

as a side note, case studies are just case studies. just like it takes a lot of clinical evidence to approve a drug, it also takes evidence (more than just a case study) to yank a drug. (though i do agree with you that there are definitely drugs out there that should be pulled or that never should have been approved in the first place!)

  • I am not at all justifying buying from India just saying that the FDA isn't the holy grail either.
