Inexpensive comfortable exercise bike

Can anyone recommend a durable portable exercise bike that is comfortable, under $300.00? Thanks!!

  • I also second Craigslist, or maybe you could find one on Facebook through a local group that sells household items. I think even Walmart sells them cheap (not sure about the quality though). DH and I got a good deal on a discontinued high-end stationary bike at Dick's a few years ago, and if memory serves it was around $300. I know I've seen them for sale at sporting goods stores like that for as low as $150, but again I don't know about the quality, although all the Schwinn products I've tried from various price points have been good.
  • I checked Craigslist but no luck in my area. I bought one on ebay for 149.00, free shipping. The bike had excellent reviews. Thanks so much everyone!!
  • It AMAZES me sometimes the stuff you can buy on Ebay/Amazon that comes with free shipping.

I bought two big metal (10'x9') storage sheds for my backyard on Ebay (from a distributor) for $400/each and free shipping.  Each shed came in two, big heavy boxes and the order was delivered by a freight company.  I would have thought the shipping alone was about what I paid, but apparently not.

  • Do you have a regular bike by chance that you find comfortable to ride? If so, consider looking into buying a "trainer" (sometimes you can find them on craigslist also). A trainer is a frame that you can set your regular bike into. You put the back tire on it and you can ride just like you would outside. Then when the weather is better, you can take the bike off easily & go hit the roads. The perk of this is that your butt will always be use to the same set & set up.
