Aleigha

I have a question for you if that is ok. I remember when you got pregnant you said you didn't have any insurance and you were able to get some after getting pregnant. How did you do that? We are still months away from TTC, but I want to have some sort of plan for insurance in place. Right now I just self pay for my visits and don't have insurance. Thanks!

Re: Aleigha

  • We had insurance then when D lost his job we lost insurance. I applied for state insurance through Medicaid and even though I make to much for Medicaid they do not deny pregnant ladies. They put me on a plan that only lasted until after the baby was eight weeks. Which just ended, we now have to find insurance again. One good thing is the baby gets to stay on the plan for one year.
  • Ok. I started looking into the requirements for Medicaid and according to everything I've read I would get covered. When I was pregnant with Abby I had insurance through my teaching job and when my contract ended so did my insurance. Abby was on Medicaid for the first year and is now on Medicaid through Florida Kid Care which I pay $20/month for. Were you able to pick the doctor and hospital you wanted or did they pick for you?

  • I did pick. They have a list of providers who accept.
  • Thank you for talking to me about this!

  • Every state is different so look up what you qualify for. Obama care has helped raise limits on certain things (amount earned, ages, etc)
  • I have the medicaid info for FL and guidelines saved in a tab for Baby 2 info.
