Dennis Lehane (no spoilers)

I just ordered Live by Night and World Gone By (new last month).

I know that Live by Night is a sequel to The Given Day, but from the description it sounds like World Gone by is maybe a third book in the same series - is that right?

Anyone read these two?  What did you think?  I loved The Given Day, so I'm looking forward to Live By Night for sure.  I don't know much about World Gone By, but it was on sale at B&N and I've loved pretty much all of the DL I've ever picked up, so it's on its way to me now..

Re: Dennis Lehane (no spoilers)

  • I LOVE Dennis Lehane!  I enjoyed the first two in this series.  I just got the third (when I met him WOO HOO) but haven't had time to read it yet.  I can't wait though.

Have you read any of this others? I LOVE the Kenzie and Gennaro series.

  • I've read through Gone, Baby, Gone in the K&G series.  I think Prayers for Rain and Moonlight Mile are all I have left.  I've spaced them out to try and make it last.  :-B

And I think I've read all of his stand-alone books now, too.  Shutter Island was the first of his books I read and I fell so completely in love with him as an author after that, I felt like I needed to read and own everything he's ever written.  He is definitely one of my favorites.
  • I just adore him too.  I THINK Gone Baby Gone was my first and I haven't stopped since.  He's so good.
And I can honestly say I had a HUGE crush listening to him in person.  I LOVE authors who are funny and witty and self depracating!  Swoon!
