WIJFR: The Start of Me and You (sp)

I loved it! I was hesitant to give it 5 stars, but it was a solid 4.5.  I might go back and change it if I'm still thinking about it in a couple days.

I really liked Open Road Summer, but I think this one blew it out of the water.  I've had a serious case of stone face when reading books lately and I was happy that this one broke it.  I cried when Max and Paige fought and when he said he needed time, the heartache was for reals.  I do like that there was a little foreshadowing with Max's comment about how sometimes you know how the story ends, but it's the journey that takes you there that makes it worth it.

I loved the tribute to PostSecret, which I still think is an awesome project.  I don't know that Max's confession to Paige was really all that unique, but it was blunt in Max's way.  I was cool that this book put the typical 'hot' guy on the back burner without trashing him, but let the geek flag fly.

What did everyone else thing? I know @packfan20 loved it.

  • @Jen748 read it too.  I loved so much that it wasn't so full of "oh woe is me, I'm a teenager with every problem known to man.  I'm just going to go for a run."  My mind was so prepared for one of friends to turn on her because that's what seems to happen in many YA books and I was so happy that they didn't!

YES.  I'm pleased that there's some athleticism in YA, but goodness, are they all long distance runners?

Exactly!!!  None of my friends in HS went for a run when they were pissed at the world.

I knew exactly one person in HS that did and we all thought he was nuts.  I mean, we were happy he had an outlet, but running we such a crazy thought to us.

  • I loved this book!!! <3<3 It made me all swoony and the friendships were so awesome!

That said, I was totally one of those people who went for a run to relieve stress in college. Not HS, but for sure in college. :)
