What did you think about Anna and Charles? I feel like there wasn't as much tension as I would have liked between the love interests for a PNR, since it was sort of obvious from the very beginning that they had already chosen each other.
I am glad that I read the short story about Asil in the Shifting Shadows anthology, otherwise, I don't think the story would have flowed as well. He certainly isn't a character to easily like, especially when we find out he's been hiding from that crazy witch. I liked that they met up with the man who'd been living off the grid and who had become a werewolf. I was sad at his death. Also, the bit at the end made me feel especially sad for Bran.

Overall, I liked this one and finished the next three shortly after! I'm still behind on Mercy Thompson, I think I last read Silver Borne a few years ago, but I felt like this just flowed back into the world, especially with books two and three.
Re: Cry Wolf (sp)
It's been awhile since I've read it so the details of other story lines are getting confused. I will always, always love Bran. I remember seeing this fan picture of Bran once and I always keep it in mind. It's not how I picture Bran, really, but I always picture him as an older man because he's so old and "wise"
There's a scene in one of the Mercy books where he shows up in her room and he's described with a lopsided hair cut and ironically distressed jeans. I think there was a smiley face involved. It's just so interesting the family dynamics of men and women who all look the same age. Even Charles to me looks like he's in this 30's in brain, but I know they are all supposed to be 20's-ish in their appearance. I think I read that PB said she won't write a spinoff about Bran, that his story is already done. She said she'd entertain a SS from his POV though. I would love to read that.
I've struggled with book 3 and 4 in this series. In fact, I keep putting down the latest release. I guess I'm a little tired of Charles stoicism and Anna's never failing peace. The story hasn't grabbed me. It's hard for me to admit as a die hard PB fan.

I have the Shifting Shadows anthology. I bought it thinking it was the new Mercy book so I got a few pages into Sam and Bran's story and put it down in disappointment. I'd like the read the Adam one. I do love me some Adam.
I think it says something about how we've switched from Anna and Charles to Mercy and Bran. I do like A/C, but they don't hold a candle to the Mercy books.
