Our little girl is here!

Aria Isabella arrived at 3:28 pm on April 27 via c section at 39 weeks. She weighed 6lbs 1.5oz and was 20.5 " long. She is perfect and her daddy and I couldn't be any happier.

Birth story:

On Sunday morning, I woke up with some mild period like cramps. We had planned on cleaning, doing laundry and reorganizing around the house so started working on all of that throughout the day. The cramps kept up as the day went on, but they were far apart and just thought it was my body gearing up for labor.

Around 7pm, I noticed they were getting a little closer together so I started taking them. At that time, they were between 7 abs 12 minutes apart. Around 8:30, we went to get some dinner and I had a few strong contractions while we were out. When we got back home, we took our dog for a walk and had an even stronger contraction that stopped me in my tracks.

It was close to 10:15 when we went back inside and decided to call the doctor. She said I could wait it out at home for another hour or come in. We live about 5 minutes from the hospital, so we decided to get the final items together for our hospital bag, finish the laundry and then head in. In that time, my contractions went from 6-8 minutes apart to 3-4 minutes apart.

We made it to the hospital around 11:30 and got into a room and was changed and checked by 11:45. I was at 4cm dilated and the contractions were too much, so I asked for an epidural which was done at 12:30ish. After I felt better, we watched a little tv and tried to get some sleep. I could not fall asleep until 3 or 4 in the morning. I got checked again around that time and I was at 7-8 cm.

I kept having to switch from one side to another because the baby wasn't dropped down. I got checked throughout the rest of the night and through the morning. They noticed that her HB kept dropping with every contraction and that's when the doctor mentioned we may have to do a c section. They let me push to see how she reacted and they determined it was too risky. At 2:45 or so, I started getting prepared for the c section. I was rolled into the OR and didn't know the most difficult part was ahead.

I was placed on the table and my hospital gown was removed. It was so uncomfortable laying there naked in a room full of strangers when I'm scared and shaking. The anesthesiologist then administered more drugs and said H would be in soon. Well, H didn't come in until they were already cutting into me. I knew I was going to feel pressure, but I could feel a little pain from the blade, so I said something and was given more drugs. When it came time to pull her out, it was the worst experience ever. She was stuck in the birth canal so they had to put a ton of pressure on my stomach to get her to move and come out. It was extremely painful and something I'll never forget. They got her out after about a minute of pulling and pushing. H stayed by me instead of going to cut the cord because he knew I was in terrible pain.

They cleaned her up and brought her to me before H and a nurse took her back to our room. I got to the room around 4 and had immediate skin to skin with her. At that moment, every pain was worth it. She's perfect and we feel so blessed to have her in our lives.
