WIALT: Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson (NS, please)

I just started listening to this one yesterday, and I'm on disc 2/5.  I read Speak a long time ago, (though I constantly pick it up in the library, thinking it looks good, only to remember that I've already read it), and I'm pretty sure I liked it (it was pre-GR, so I have no record), so I thought I'd give this one a try.  The back of the book just has a tag line, and no description, so I have no clue what's coming.  So far, I'm enjoying the dark sort of humor of it.

Anyone particularly love/hate this one?

  • I also listenend to it, but it was a long time ago. I did like it but fuzzy on the details. I want to ask "is this the one about..." but I'll want until you finish.

My favorite Anderson book so far is Wintergirls. Have you read it?

I haven't read Wintergirls, but I'm enjoying this one, so I will probably pick it up.  I just finished almost 700 pages on James Madison, so I need some YA quick reads to clear my head.  LOL.

Twisted is about a guy who was sort of a loser, but he completely vandalizes his school one night and gets arrested and made to do community service which makes him all buff and tan, and then catches the eye of a really pretty, popular girl who is then the subject of some cyberbullying that he gets blamed for.  That's as far as I am into it.  And sorry for that total run-on sentence.  Whew.
  • Hmmm, I must have zoned out at some point because I don't remember cyberbullying, but do recall something happening with a girl and he's the likley suspect. Wasn't his dad abusive?

Yup.  Maybe cyber bullying isn't the right terms.  There were pictures of a girl from a party posted to a website.  I'm almost done with the book now.  I like it a lot.  I'm adding Wintergirls to my TBR list.
