So when I met my husband 5 years ago (we've been married 2 1/2) his credit was for crap. I've been working hard to get us on a budget and to pay off his past debts. We're finally in a good position now with things paid off and his credit has improved a lot since we started. It's not great, but it's going to take time for that to happen for the past accounts (which are paid off) to fall off his record and to just keep making payments on time for any current account.
Well, we have been needing a new computer for at least a year or so now. We've been putting it off because we haven't had the funds for it. Dell had a deal going for a Laptop and a Smart TV. He decided to try for the financing and figured out what the monthly payments would be. Based on that he figured that he was willing to give up that amount out of his montly allowance to pay for the laptop & tv. So I said ok and he applied and he got approved. So excited that his credit has improved enough that he was able to get approved for a major purchase on his own.
So now the first purchase for his man cave has happened. WE're hoping that by the end of this year to have a nice recliner for him so to that he can play video games then in the man cave. It will probably take us a year or so to fully furnish & decorate the man cave as we would like to. But so excited for this accomplishment.

What?!? No Jagermeister keg on the bar? No sports memorabilia and neon beer signs all over the walls?
Seriously, though. Congrats to your DH. I went through a period of time where my credit score was tanked because of some dumb, bogus $100 collection. But after it fell off, I remember how excited I was the first time I applied for something and was approved.
