Well Charlotte Elizabeth has been a long-time favorite name of ours whenever H and I talk about kids.

Not going to lie, I had a moment where I thought, "Huh... wonder if we could still use it someday?"  Regardless, I think they made an excellent choice of names.

I'm not really into royals, but I do like Kate.  We toured a bunch of palaces last summer when we were in London, and it was neat to see where it all takes place.

She's a beautiful baby!

  • I think it's an awesome name, I don't see what you can't use it. It's not like it's a bad person to be named after.

  • It's a sweet name, royal or not. :)

    Truth :)

I imagine people will have forgotten her middle names by this time next year anyway.

I thought some of the names in the betting books were so off.  Alexandra for instance... definitely royal, but not particularly British!

Team still use it! It's a beautiful and classic name. It will probably surge in popularity for a few years but with a nice name that's not a bad thing.

I'm pumped because one of my flower girls is named Charlotte. She's big into princesses so I'm sure she'll love this.
  • very sweet name, it is on my list of potential girl names, but I'm rethinking it.

I have the name Charles (Charlie) as my favorite on my boy name list, the neighbors just named their dog Charlie...that might be weirder.

Love it! We'll be there next week, and will have to make sure to pick up a royal baby souvenir.

  • It was on my (totally in my head and not on paper) girl name list too! I think it would depend on timing for me. And it might cause an uptick in british Charlotte's but not in your area?

My sister was planning on Penelope when she was pregnant, then Kourtney Kardashian had a Penelope about a month ahead of my sister and ruined the name for her. Two+ years out and I don't think anyone would be making the association, but they probably would have at the birth time.
  • I heard people guessing Alice and I was not pleased. I have been trying to get H on board and I know something like this would push it off the list for good.

I am also on team still use it! I am sure it will spike over there but hopefully not in your area!

    She is a beautiful baby.

I love the name too and also thought the same thing, but it was more of a concern that we'll see a spike in the name and it'll become too common and I wouldn't want a girl to share the same name as a dozen other girls in her class.

But wait, we're not having kids, so it doesn't really matter.  hahaha.

  • god she is adorable!  I'm so jealous Kate looks that great just hours after birth.  I"m seriously in baby fever mode now, but it will probably be another 9 months till TTC #2

  • Charlotte has always been one of my favorite girl names.  I named my first Cabbage Patch Kid Charlotte, lol.

The good thing for you guys, @hoffse, is when you all are ready to have a baby and if you decide you like those names best, I don't think many people would make the connection to the princess.

I didn't realize there were betting books for her name, lol.  Though it hardly surprises me.

  • My aunts name is Charlotte, but we call her Charlie for short.

I don't know why I usually find it so charming when little girls have "boy name" nicknames, but I do :).  That is a cute nickname for Charlotte.
