NMMR: Neighborly Gift

One of our neighbors has helped us with bush removal and will be helping again soon with tree removal of two semi-large arbor vitae trees. We are extremely grateful because he's really helping us move our landscaping project along, save time & money, etc. Any ideas on what we can get him to show our gratitude? Thanks!

Re: NMMR: Neighborly Gift

  • Maybe a gift card to a local restaurant?
  • Ditto the gift card idea.

If you don't want to put a dollar amount on there, maybe you could make a nice meal and send it over to him?

  • ANother vote for gift card, even if it's a gas gift card, everyone needs gas. If he happens to be a single guy how maybe doesn't cook, consider inviting him over for a nice homemade dinner or two.

What my friends did when a neighbor came over to help was give him beer and lunch that is what they used to bribe me to come over and help also.  Then again, they are friendly with the neighbor and he has a son close in age to their son.

  • Our friends are known (in a good way) in their neighborhood for gifting beer and homemade cookies! When they are out of town for work or leisure, their neighbors will mow the lawn or clean out the driveway in the winter so it looks like they are home.

  • Our go-to for that kind of thing is generally a bottle of wine or a six-pack of a nice beer if we know that they drink.

a plate of homemade cookies or a loaf of banana bread with cream cheese would also be nice if you aren't comfortable with alcohol.
