Great article on infertility (and afterwards...)

A friend sent me this article last night, which really really really hit home for me, especially the first couple.  I always feel like I have to justify why adoption isn't for us and prove that we are okay without children. http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/23/living/feat-infertility-when-adoption-not-option/index.html

So, I followed the link to the blog of the woman in the first couple: http://everupward.org/

And, I found this quote that I could have written myself (swap out IVF for IUI): "My story of figuring out how to stop proving that I’m okay. To stop proving that saying no more to IVF is okay. To stop proving that saying adoption isn’t for us is okay. To stop proving that childless, childfree, is okay. To stop proving it, and to really own it."

It's such a good feeling to find other people in the same boat who know exactly how you're feeling.

Thanks for reading :)

  • Thank you for sharing. I hate so much this is a decision you guys had to make. But I have never felt that you should try harder or adopt. You are such a strong woman with an awesome marriage. I know you're happy with the life you lead and you only deserve the best.

  • This is a great article! Thank you sir sharing. I will still never understand why people feel the need to tell you about your infertility or offer up advice. Every decision is personal.
  • Thanks so much for sharing that article. It is interesting to get another perspective on adoption, etc. And definitely this is a decision each couple needs to make for themselves, and there's no one size fits all solution!

  • I ran across this article when it came out and really liked it. Infertility is rough no matter what the outcome. Everyone has the right to live as they choose without others questioning them. Thanks for sharing nfp!
