Re: Happy Friday!

  • i am still reading the same exact two books I was reading last friday:

    Black Hills by Dan Simmons
    and
    Barefoot by Elin Hiderbrand

I am not thrilled by either of them, hence the reason I have been reading them for the last three or so weeks.  UGH.

  • I'm reading Dead Wake by Erik Larson.  I'm really enjoying it but it's not a quick read and I haven't had much time to sit down with it.

    #52 for the year.

I'm in one IRL book club.  I'm the youngest member by about 20 years, but it makes it interesting.  :)

  • Almost done with The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord.  Cute, quick read.  It's book number 33 out of 115 for the year.  I will be starting Gone Too Far by Natalie D. Richards later on once I'm done with the other book.
Jessica, Married to Brian 12/27/03, Mom to Alex 6/27/94, Devin 10/29/04, and Emily 1/15/07
  • I'm reading A Court of Thornes and Roses.  I can already tell early on that this is going to be one that I love.  I just haven't read to the 'go' pages yet. #35

I started listening to Blue Lily, Lily Blue.  I hope it tides me over until my reread before The Raven King comes out. #36

I'm also listening to Colter's Lady by Maya Banks.  It's not your typical romance and I didn't think I'd really be into it.  It's really not that good, but I can't seem to put it away. #37

  • I'm still slogging through The Time Traveler's Guide to Elizabethan England. It's not boring, just slow, and I don't have a whole lot of reading time these days. I'm also reading Autobiography of a Fat Bride by Laurie Notaro for a little mindless fluff.

I used to be part of a book club IRL but it disbanded a while ago.

  • Still reading DIA, and I started A Court of Thorns and Roses. I have had ZERO reading time. It makes me sad.

I am part of an IRL book club. We meet monthly. Thank goodness this month's book was one I already read (The Girl On The Train).

  • I am reading Armageddon Rules by JC Nelson. I like it so far. It's around 85 for the year.

I meetup once a month with a romance book club that follows Felicia Day's picks. It's pretty fun.

I'm reading Alice in Wonderland High by Rachel Shane and The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole. Alice is really fun and I'm still waiting to really get into Warlord. I really hope I can finish by PNR discussion time next week.

I'm also listening to The Mime Order (Bone Season #2) by Samantha Shannon. The narrator's voice is so lulling and melodic that I'd listen to almost anything by her, and I also like the story. I can enjoy it more because the second book in the series doesn't feel as tied to all the hype that touted SS as the next JK Rowling.

Fun! I watched one of Felicia Day's Vaginal Fantasy Book Club Google hangouts the time they read Poison Study and it was hilarious.

I just saw that they're reading
Taken by the T-Rex for June. Bwhahahah. Now, that's a discussion I have to see.

I'm reading Trigger Warning by Neil Gaiman. I love his writing but like him best in small increments so I'm finding his short stories are awesome.

Also reading Upstairs at the White House: My years with the First Ladies by JB West. It's a really great choice for presidential challenge readers or history nerds. Takes the reader from Eleanor Roosevelt through Ladybird Ford? I think.

No IRLS for me-no time- but a coworker and I talk about having one for work type books.

I had no idea that this sub-genre existed. I'm a little concerned to see what Amazon's going to recommend after I pick this up. At least it's only a dollar and super short! I think it sounds hilarious and will lead to memorable discussion!
