Monday Accountability on a Post Three Day Weekend Tuesday
1. How MM was your weekend?
2. Any progress towards goals?
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol
Re: Monday Accountability on a Post Three Day Weekend Tuesday
1.$48 Po Box, $40 Gas for both cars, $30 Chinese food, $10 grocery store
2. Moving to parents house this weekend, closing next week. no savings to report, we get paid this week
3. Probably a dental hygienist. They get paid very well in this area.
1. How MM was your weekend? Well, Friday and Saturday were excellent. $15 for Chipotle for dinner Friday night, DH used some of his fun money for a Happy Hour and beer tasting, and we didn't spend any money on Saturday.
Sunday and Monday we spent a ton of money, using DH's 3rd paycheck this month and a little of our savings. We bought a new 75" smart tv (but didn't spend the money for a 3D or 4k tv since that would double the price) and saved about $500 buy purchasing it online instead of in a retail store. We also bought a sound bar, wall mount and HDMI port switch and a new entertainment center since our old one is too small for the tv. We spent about $3,000 for the home theater upgrade (saved about $2,000 buy buying online for the tv and wall mount, our sound bar was open box and the entertainment stand was on sale 30% off). Total We also bought some replacement light switches for the family room, we are gradually replacing all of them throughout the house.
I'm super excited about the new tv and I'm even more impatient for everything to be delivered. I keep telling myself that the savings by purchasing online is way better than the instant gratification of bringing it home from a store.
2. Any progress towards goals? See number 1 about the home theater upgrade.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol I would love to help people organize homes after a move or redecorating. Helping people purge old items and make things fit into designated spaces is fun. I wouldn't be able to work with hoarders though, that is too sad and stressful for me.
1. How MM was your weekend?
Very spendy... But, I made $150 in sales this weekend, so I guess it evens out.
2. Any progress towards goals?
Signed the Purchase and Sales Agreement yesterday afternoon! But MM wise, nothing.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol
Be an architect.
Groceries - $125, gardening supplies - $35, splurged on some cookware - $40, H bought a golf bag filled with clubs and random things at an estate sale - $40, ice cream $5.
2. Any progress towards goals?
We are going to pay our auto insurance in a lump sum so that will save us some money, we are putting $500 into our bathroom remodel fund.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count.
I'm not really sure. I love what I do and working part-time. Ideally I would love to be a carefree, SAHM who always has her crap together.... Lol I love planning events and designing things. I spend way too much time planning my kiddos birthday parties, etc. Something like that would be fun!
1. How MM was your weekend?
It didn't feel very MM! I spent $130 at Lowe's on Sat. for pieces we miscalculated on our deck. Two extra rails...though I am hoping we will be able to return one of them once we're done. Those are $50/piece!
2. Any progress towards goals?
$1,000 toward my HELOC.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol
Be an advise columnist. I've always thought that would be so much fun. Dear short+sassy...
1. How MM was your weekend? Quite expensive...gift for my parent's anniversary, some groceries, paid my MIL's CC minimum ($25), and $$ on landscaping supplies. I can't resist pretty flowers :S
2. Any progress towards goals? No progress on financial goals, but we did make progress on landscaping goals lol! The south side of our house is now planted. And we purchased planters to put in front of both sides of the garage. That's been one of my wants for a couple years now.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Could education level and mathematical ability not be an object here? I'd like to be a research psychologist.1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad actually! $70 at the store, $7 (gift card), $25 for breakfast, $25 for dinner one night (this is Friday thru Monday).
2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing major, not a pay week for me.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol- I would want to be a detective. I've always been facsinated with criminal justice. I'd probably want to do gang, narcotics or homicide unit.
Edited for error...
2. Meh. Later this week, we'll pay $2,000 toward the expenses incurred on our recent trip to London, Paris and Norway. We'll also put $1,000 in the bathroom reno savings. And lastly, I'll pay the last $135 owed on my student loan.
3. I'd be a wedding planner.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not bad. On Friday I spent $125 on groceries (plus $4 at the Starbucks inside Kroger because I have no self control). Next week will be bad because the in-laws are coming to visit though!
2. Any progress towards goals? Just trudging along, nothing special.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol Hmm...I'd probably be a writer or journalist
1. How MM was your weekend?
Ours was actually pretty good - $100 on groceries, $100 on clothes (some sweet Memorial Day deals). That was it.
2. Any progress towards goals?
H was confirmed as a board member for a major MAJOR arts non-profit in our community last week. We are so excited! It's a pretty big achievement for a 27-year-old. We also found out that he's going to be featured heavily in the Birmingham Business Journal issue that's coming up - excited about that too!
Financially, no major progress - waiting for the granite to come in on our kitchen remodel and saving/cash flowing everything we can up until demo day. We did have our appliances come in, and there was a small ding on the back side of the fridge (won't be visible once it's installed). We convinced Lowe's to give us another 10% off for scratch and dent! They didn't want to, but they finally caved. The 10% refund showed up on my credit card today
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count.
I would probably be a curator for an art museum. Or maybe work at Christie's or Sotheby's for art valuation.
2. Any progress towards goals? We submitted our variance application for our front porch in digital format; they will look it over and let us know if we need to make any changes before submitting the paper copies. $200 out of the porch fund to pay for the application.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Event planning.
1. How MM was your weekend? We bought a new laptop (our old one was so slow), groceries ($159)
2. Any progress towards goals? Nothing went to savings this week- stopping DH's contribution so he can have some extra money in checking once the summer comes (he's off July and August).
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. I would open a fabric shop with a long arm quilting machine- stock really cool stuff (no civil war or batik prints- sorry if I offended anyone that likes them!).
1. How MM was your weekend?
Good. Out of town wedding with hotel was already paid for then we visited family. ~$30 on gas and ~$11 on incidentals/road food. All budgeted.
2. Any progress towards goals?
We decided instead of using the whole 3rd paycheck for debt to instead fix our cash flow issues. So we are now able to consider H's paychecks as 1st/15th instead of 15th/30th. We'll still be able to do a smaller debt payment on friday.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count. lol
The one part of my job I really love is doing graphic design projects (annual reports, membership directories, quarterly magazines). but I know I wouldn't want to have to deal with clients/customers directly so maybe working for a company that handles the outsourcing of large corporations' graphic design projects?
Our weekend was okay. We spent our vacation budget, but no more than that. We were under budget originally, so H bought some new shorts and I got some work shoes. Since we don't plan on taking another vacation because of our potential move, we decided to spend from there. We were really on vacation though, so it counts, right? Haha
2. Any progress towards goals?
$300 to our move money account. $37 to payoff one installment of my student loan. 1 installment and $1700 to go.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? Volunteering doesn't count.
I'm not 100% sure. I think about this a lot, actually. But since volunteering doesn't count, I'll think I have to say chef. I really like to cook and I love to try new things.
1. How MM was your weekend? Not good, MW and I will have to find a way to increase our food budget since we keep going over it we were over by roughly $50. Went boating with my son, that was about a $45 expense between breakfast, lunch, and minnows for fishing.
2. Any progress towards goals? Did finally make my credit card payments.
3. If you didn't have the job/career you have now and could be anything you wanted to be (salary not an object) what would you do? International travel researcher where I can go to the smaller towns and out of the way places to do research.
