Do you or DH follow politics?

YES! Election nights are like our Super Bowl. Moving to the DC area has only fed our politics addiction!

Nope. Although we do try to follow our local elections though since our town is very small. There was a council election last fall and both candidates we voted for won.

I usually have a good idea of what is happening, but it's pretty unavoidable living in the DC metro area.

H follows them much more closely than I do. Though, he and I have very differing views on politics.

We do. That said, we can't stand extremists. Anyone who thinks that people who disagree with them are automatically ignorant or evil or whatever...well, those are the assholes of the world.

To those of you who don't follow politics, do you at least vote? It really bothers me when people don't vote or aren't even registered to vote. People fought and died (are are currently fighting and dying) for the right to vote. **steps off my soapbox**

I follow a little bit but DH doesn't at all. I do vote but DH doesn't. He's not even registered...

I didn't vote in the federal elections but have voted in the municipal. My parents never voted, therefore my brothers and I saw no reason to vote. When I became of age to vote I never got my voter registration in the mail and was too lazy to send away for it because I didn't know enough about the candidates to even vote anyways. I'm slowly starting to educate myself more.

On the flip side, D's parents made him vote as soon as he was old enough and even told him who to vote for. He didn't really have the chance to explore other parties, so I feel like his votes never counted because he just did as he was told.

H probably pays more attention than I do to politics. During presidential elections I watch the debates, etc. We both vote.

I follow some, esp when it's budget time so I know if I'll have a job. I vote, H doesn't. I've been pushing him to, esp when Eliza is old enough to notice.

I don't really follow politics, but I know the important issues and each candidate's position on those issues. I have voted in every election since I turned 18, with the exception of the year my grandfather passed away on Election Day.

H follows about the same that I do. He doesn't like to vote. He only voted a handful of times before we got married. He's voted every year since, but he puts up a good fight. He thinks his vote doesn't count so he shouldn't bother. The first year we were married, he told me that he doesn't need to vote, his parents never did. It came up shortly after and his parents were shocked he said it. They always vote and used to try to get him to go, but he would refuse.

I just remembered, when H moved here, he registered to vote and joined a party. Around the same time he registered, there was a conspiracy locally in that party and the local board was being overthrown. H received a letter that he was part of the conspiracy and was being thrown out of the party for not being an active member or something like that. The letter came with a list a few pages long of members who were being thrown out. A few months later things were straightened out and H was allowed back in. When we moved, he checked off that he was not joining any party.

I don't seek out the information but do pay attention when I hear or see it. Dh is kind of the same way. We both vote every election.
