    Friday- More packing!

Saturday- Moving out of the condo and into my parents temporarily! It's been fun but it's time to get out of there

Sunday- Cleaning up the condo to make it nicey nicey for the new lady. Settling into my parents house. Maybe some grocery shopping

  • jessica490!

Friday - Low-key bachelorette dinner and ice cream party for a church friend while H hangs out with their counterparts

Saturday - GYM! (anyone else really pack on pounds over memorial weekend?!), then having a friend over for the Belmont with wine, chips & queso.

Sunday - Church, then H & I are going with our pastor to check out the local roller rink as a possible church rental because we're growing beyond our current space. H is grilling with a friend Sunday and I might get a group together for sand volleyball.
  • Friday- Workout and some house tidying then date night; probably sushi and a movie.

Saturday- Grocery shopping, a few returns/exchanges at Home Depot and then test driving at a bunch of dealerships to buy my H a new truck.

Sunday- Having my SIL and her boyfriend over for a cookout and tailgating for a big concert that night. Monday morning will be rough!

Friday - H is OOT on business until tomorrow, so I may work late tonight and then drink wine and watch TV later. I've been bingeing on Call the Midwife.

Saturday - There's an art fair in our village. We'll walk to that and enjoy the festivities.

Sunday - We're meeting with our financial advisor. Barring job loss, demotion or any unforeseen changes, we won't qualify for a ROTH in 2016 so we need to strategize what else we can do to complement maxing out my 403b and his Simple IRA...

Friday-leaving work early to get grocery shopping out of the way and to pull weeds in my garden

Tonight: relaxing, maybe get some laundry done. H had fillings today so he's on a soft-food diet for the day and will likely still feel uncomfortable tonight.

Saturday: shopping for a birthday gift for a 16-year old boy. Anyone have any ideas???

Sunday: church, church luncheon (Polish food! yay) and then said 16-year old boy's birthday party.

  • Friday- nothing planned

    Saturday- work

Sunday- meal plan and food prep for the week. H is still on his two-week work trip in TX, so meal planning is getting annoying. I used to think it was easy when I was single, but somehow, meal planning for one is harder than for two. Oh well, at least it's still a cheaper grocery bill. : )
  • Friday: I met a friend for lunch, got groceries, some random stuff done around the house.

Saturday/Sunday: Road trip to visit family.

Ask about a back door Roth - it may not work with the other retirement accounts you have, but if it does.... then it's a pretty easy way to work around the income limit.

We are aware of that option but not interested. Using loopholes to skirt the system like that just feels icky to me.

Well you're entitled to your opinion of course, but don't be surprised if that's what your financial planner suggests.  It's a pretty standard thing.  Congress is absolutely aware of the loophole (it's called a "conversion"), and even though closing it would be extremely easy, they've never managed to get enough support to actually do it.

We're going to use it for 2015, and I don't feel guilty or icky about it at all.  It gets reported on your tax return and everything.  In fact, there's info about how to calculate and report it on the IRS's own website.

Of course.  Everyone is different.  I'm just not ethically okay with doing this.

Each to his own.  Hopefully you don't think others are unethical for doing it.  I guess for me, if the IRS has blessed it (and they have), then I don't think it's unethical.

I have had clients propose things that are grey areas under the code - usually where there's little guidance one way or the other - and that's where I start to worry about ethics, because I just don't know which way the IRS would come down if they looked at it.  I'm not a fan of doing things that haven't been fully vetted by the IRS.  I think this one has, though.

Anyway, best of luck figuring out what you're going to do going forward.
