What have you all thought about the last couple episodes?

I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the last episode yet.

I am currently reading WIMOBH, but once I finish I need to do a reread. I can't remember some details from the books. I've been very happy overall with the show.

Taking my cues from Booney today. This is how I feel about this show:

I feel obligated to watch it because...Outlander.

I haven't watched the final episode yet. I need to gear myself up for it because I have a hard time watching anything that involves sexual assault. I usually get up and leave a room/movie theater if that's what's happening.

I haven't watched the past two episodes and as of right now I don't plan to. I know what happens, I don't need to watch it.

I thought the final episode was VERY difficult to watch. Very very very. The scenes between BJR and Jamie were just brutal, but so well acted, IMO. I thought the scenes between Jamie and Claire were also well acted, and made me cry, but compared to the books there was something missing. It felt a little quick. I think Sam and Caitriona could have done so much with those scenes, and they wren't given the opportunity.

I expected this for the whole show though, I couldn't imagine how you make such epic novels into a few 1 hr long episodes. There was bound to be things missing or changed. Maybe it was for the best I don't remember all the details or I would have been more disappointed. I know I'm going to watch the final episode, but I need some time to prepare.

I am sooooooooo far behind on this show. I keep forgetting to watch. I guess that goes to show what I think of the show.

Yes, this! I re-read the book just before the show began, so everything is fresh. But I still enjoy the show, even with its faults.

I just picked up the first set of DVDs from the library, so I've only ever seen the very first episode, but I purposely did not want to reread before watching the show because I would rather not find myself comparing every little detail. I know the book and I remember it well enough, but I think it's probably better if it's not so fresh in my mind.
I can't wait to watch the whole show, though!

I think I'm 4 episodes behind. I expected to be more invested in the show but I'm not. It's just not doing it for me.

I think there are a lot of changes from the book but I'm happy with the series. I think it's beautifully done. I think the last episode was extremely hard to watch but I think they did the "scene" justice. I do wish they would have had more time to develop what happened between Jamie and Claire after though--I feel that part was a little rushed...because I thought it was beautiful in the book how she brought him out of the darkness.

I liked the first half of the season better than the second. Maybe it's because of the build up and tension? I didn't particularly enjoy the Claire/BJR lavender smoke session. I thought it was much more 'mystical' in the book, but it was totally meh in the show. I'll leave the BJR/Jamie part out.

It's hard to be objective when you love something so much. I wanted to do a reread of the second book before the second season comes out, but I'm thinking that might not be a good idea.
