Re: June Updates

  • Not happening this month, but I'm going to be a great aunt.  My niece (19, high school drop out, no job, no driving license) is due in December.  My sister moved in with my parents, and I think my niece will be next... My mom has already set up boundaries (no borrowing the cars, etc), so hopefully this works out.

Work slowed down, so I can finally breathe.

Once MIL gets her work schedule, we will finalize the kids coming in July.  I *think* she's bringing them up, or taking them back and we are flying with them the other way since they will be in GA.  I don't know if I told you girls, but their mom got divorced on a Monday, and married on Thursday... Army guy #3

No, she actually got married before we did, Aug 2011. They've been on and off the whole time (how and be married is beyond me).  Last year, he told her he just wanted to be roommates and she started talking to this new guy.

  • June seems to be the month of plans.
Zoo trip Sunday with H and two friends. Movie trip to Pittsburgh Wednesday with my childhood best friend. And mine and H's work picnic is at the end of the month at a local amusement park. We decided to attend this year and invite the family. Should be fun to drag the niece and nephew around the kid's kingdom.

I'm mostly excited because it'll get my mind off the losing the house stuff.

  • @mana8503 I also thought biomom recently got married.  She's on a great track, 3 husbands already.  Does she think she's Elizabeth Taylor?

@consciousdear88 I am sorry that you lost the house, but it wasn't yours.  (that's coming off nastier than I mean it to be, I mean it in a supportive way).  When your house comes around, it will be amazing.  We were outbid on 3 or 4 houses.  One house we kept telling our realtor we wanted to see it and she dragged her feet.  By the time she called the listing agent, it had an accepted offer.  We had houses go under contract before our appointment even came.  It was a long, frustrating experience.  Our house came along and we rushed to see it and get an offer in.  Everything went so smooth.  You'll see, something better will come along.
  • @sjs1013 I'm just glad the hassle is over. If I wasn't pulling my hair out over messed up paperwork, I think it was the lack of communication that was bothering me. We didn't even know the appraisal had happened until we were basically harassing our realtor about it. And the bank decided it was worth almost $20,000 less than what we offered because they decided that the house didn't have a bathroom. (It does. It's in the basement. We planned on putting a second one in down the road in the upstairs of the house)
As a result, the estate who was handling the sale said they would take that offer, but they would not fix anything or provide buyers' assist. Which would mean we'd need a TON more than what we had saved at the present time to cover both closing costs and any of the repairs the bank wanted fixed. We tried going back and forth, but it just wasn't happening. H and I decided that if they said no on this last offer negotiation, we were out.
I'm sure there will be something better down the road. I think I'm just sad because now I have a ton of moving boxes that I have no idea what to do with.

  • *hugs* @conciousdear88.  I remember the frustrations of buying a home too.  Like @sjs1013 said: this house just wasn't meant to be.  There is a better house out there for you guys!

  • June is a crazy busy month for us.

I am leaving for a work trip to Vegas on Saturday and will be gone until the 10th.

I come home, we have one normalish weekend and then I am traveling with J, H is staying home, to Pennsylvania for my cousins wedding. We will be staying overnight.

The weekend after than, we fly to Michigan for a visit with my family and friends. This is the first time most of them will be meeting J.

I'm exhausted just thinking about June!

  • It's a busy month for me, too!! Today I have my first post-op appointment on my foot. It's been doing really well. I'm hoping the stitches are coming out. They're what's keeping me on my pain meds because they're uncomfortable and push up against my cast.

Next Friday we leave for Charlotte, NC for a wedding! I cannot wait to see my friend get married! We'll come home on Sunday. The next weekend, I am a BM in a wedding. We have a bridesmaids dinner Thursday, rehearsal dinner Friday, and wedding Saturday. So I'll be busy with wedding things that week! That'll be week 4 post-surgery and when I'm supposed to move to a hard cast. I'm hoping he'll let me use a boot and promise I'll continue non-weight bearing.

June 27th we go to the beach! I don't know if I'll be allowed out of a cast/boot/whatever for it, so I'm still hesitant to be excited. I don't know how I'll get my knee roller on the sand, or use crutches. And our condo is up a flight of stairs, which is always fun with one foot. Hopefully I can be cleared before we leave!

  • June is busy here too!  I have my cousin's bridal shower this weekend, then her rehearsal/wedding the 19th and 20th.

Next Tuesday, I go to see a psychiatrist for my anxiety to get some medicine for it.  It's been out of control lately and I just want my life back.  I've been on meds for it before and they helped immensely without changing my personality, so I know what I'm getting into and am looking forward to being able to enjoy life fully again.

My novel is set for release on July 4, which means I have to upload the final file by June 24th.  I'd say it's about 75% done right now, not counting editing.  It's going to be a rush, but I'm excited.  I will be hiring a professional editor for this book.  I also just re-released my novella with some minor edits ( a few typos I caught--sorry if you read them in the first edition!)

Saving and getting ready for our Key West trip the week of Labor Day! :)

  • I'm on my last week home. Next week I start watching my sister's kids. I'm not sure if I'll be watching them here or at her house. It will depend on if W passed his sleep study and can go off of oxygen. If they come here I can look for additional kids.
Things have finally calmed down but the summer is always busy with my shows and DH's softball. Looking forward to a fun summer!
  • Dh is loving his new job! We have been shopping for work clothes since he didn't have "office" clothes- he's way more picky than I thought he'd be! We got shirts/ties etc... But at 1 point he actually said " oh no that polo has 3 buttons I only want polos with 2 buttons!" WHAT!?!?! Where did that even come from! Lol

Last wednesday I started having pains really low stomach pelvic area- went to urgent care Friday they thought it might have been my appendix, sent me to er! Cat scan/ ultra sound a million blood drawn/ hooked up to iv!!! Ended up being admitted with pelvic inflammatory disease and a cyst on my ovaries! Had 2 spend 2 nights iv antibiotics and 14 more days of antibiotics after I left- I'm ok now but I had never been overnight in a hospital (the last time I probably was in a hospital for myself was when I was little) oh well back to work tomorrow!
  • @PattySmith101: I'm liking your update bc the part about your H being picky is funny, but the part about your hospital trip! Yikes! I hopr you're feeling better.

  • @Pattysmith101 - ugh I had PID in 2009.  I was only in the hospital over night, but it SUCKED!  I hope you're feeling better.

  • I also have to figure out something "low key" for H's 40th birthday at the end of the month.

I am planning on seeing if my sister or parents will babysit so we can go our for a few hours when we are in Michigan. But otherwise, I've got nothing.

  • Busy month for us also.

This coming weekend is the only unplanned weekend for us.  I am excited for the Belmont Stakes.  I only watch the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont when it comes to horse racing.  I really think American Pharaoh could win.  I am holding out hope for a Triple Crown!

Next weekend, I am going with MIL and SILs to a wine festival.  They've gone the past couple of years, but I haven't been able to go.  I am so excited to finally go.  There are a ton of good vineyards that go every year.

The weekend after is my birthday (June 19)!!!!!  I also have a baby shower to go to and H's first Father's Day.  I get to see New Kids on the Block that weekend also.  I love them!

The last weekend we have my friend's son's second birthday and H's cousin's birthday/H's grandparents' anniversary.  I believe this year is 61 or 66.  I can't remember.

The last day of school is June 26.  I am so excited for my summer with O.  I am looking into activities for us to do.
  • Thanks @pockysquirrel :)  I'm really ready to put in the work to take care of this issue, so I'm looking forward to hearing the Dr's recommendations.  Meds, therapy, whatever, I'm game!  Bring it on ;)
