Monday Accountability Post

1) How MM was your weekend?

2) Any progress toward goals?

3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?

Re: Monday Accountability Post

  • 1) How MM was your weekend?
Spent $145 at macy's... with a giftcard! Some small grocery items for about $10. Kept it pretty low key otherwise.

    2) Any progress toward goals?
We got more from turning in savings bonds than we expected. $1592 straight to student loans. We're about $100 away from 20k paid off.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
Cheesy movies (or indie films) on netflix on my laptop while taking a hot bath with all the cheap face mask and sugar scrubs I have on hand or can buy for under $5. Then nail painting and junk food: chips and salsa and milk duds. Then curling up with a book with no interruptions.
  • 1) How MM was your weekend? Good! I met two friends out for meals and spent $20. H spent $40 drinking in the airport/hotel to kick off his professional development trip.

    2) Any progress toward goals? We sold my old car! We got just enough to replenish our E-Fund. I am over the moon!

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do? Netflix, a long shower, an even longer nap, and kraft mac and cheese. Seriously. I could make an 8-10 hour day out of that.

    1) How MM was your weekend?
Ours was great!  H was in Biloxi on a retreat for his law firm, so his expenses were covered all weekend.  I stayed home and studied/cleaned and got a lot done.  We spent $30 on gas, and $55 on groceries and that was it.  I also went to a couple of free symphony concerts in the park this weekend, and last night we got to see Jay Leno live!  Tickets for that were also free through H's work.  We had a good weekend!

    2) Any progress toward goals?
H and I are buckling down on our budget to try to carve out some of the fat.  We switched gyms today ($60/month saved), and I'm going to start calling my doctor before paying for my prescription... the nurse says they get tons of samples and can just give them away if I call ahead ($110/month savings).  We also changed cable providers today to save $40/month.  Finally, I'm increasing our contribution to our sinking fund to account for all of the annual things we will have going on.  Now that H is about done with his first year, we have a better sense of it.  We've gotten thrown off a bunch this year by expensive things that pop up, but we can manage it if I just budget for those items throughout the year.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
Probably binge-watch House of Cards with a bottle of wine and home-made pizza!  I would also go for a couple walks and maybe visit our city's botanical gardens.

  • 1 - we were gone Thursday-Sunday at Branson and estimated we spent $350 for the entire 4 days.

    2 - $100 savings $100 in retirement

3 - I would go to a yoga class followed by a massage and facial at the spa.

    1) How MM was your weekend?
Spent nothing on Friday, $16 for gas on Saturday.  $125 for groceries on Sunday.  H comes home tomorrow after two and a half weeks away, so we had a normal grocery week.  $75 on a thank you gift for my ILs who kept our dog for the last two and a half weeks, and $100on Father's Day gifts.

    2) Any progress toward goals?
$1000 to our move money account, $1125 to my student loan, $25 to our tiny vacation fund.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
Get up early and watch the sun come up with a cup (or three) of coffee.  Read, get a pedicure, read some more.  Maybe see a movie in the afternoon/evening.

  • 1) How MM was your weekend?
It was a good weekend.  Spent $20 at CVS on some toiletry stuff.  $15 for a yoga class on saturday.  saturday night H paid for our dinner out of his "fun money". $100 at whole foods for groceries.

    2) Any progress toward goals?
    Just plugging along.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
sleep in, then take a 90min yoga class.  get a massage and a pedicure, and spend the afternoon reading by the pool (in this fantasy the weather is perfect).  have a relaxing dinner out with H.
  • 1)  Good!  $35 for dinner out on Friday, and $115 for groceries on Sunday.  I was out of town for a work trip the rest of the weekend without any opportunity to spend money.  :)

    2)  A little.  Paid off the rest of our May vacation expenses.  Put $350 as our first extra payment toward H's student loan.  According to him "first bite of the elephant."  Only $57,750 left to go!!

    3)  An early morning coffee walk, run some errands, maybe a little day drinking, a nap and then a marathon of whatever TV show I'm binge-ing on at the time.  (Right now, that'd be True Blood.)

    1) How MM was your weekend? Not bad! Saturday- My dad came over to fix our leaky roof so major cost savings $25 for lunch as a thank you. Home depot run for a new recycle bin and number stickers to put our house number on it $17, but we used a gift card; Sunday- $45 for lunch/drinks on the boat (H paid for this). ETA: $3 for slurpees... I swear I'm addicted to those things.

    2) Any progress toward goals? Nothing last week, but it wasn't a pay week for me. Just preparing for vacations.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do? I would probably wake up, make a small breakfast, head to out to shop for a little while and pick up lunch while I'm out and read my kindle (I actually really enjoy going out by myself now). Then when I got home I'd probably take a nap and binge watch Hemlock Grove on Netflix, which I've been wanting to see, and drink some wine.
  • 1. It was too spendy. $100 on a night out with friends, $15 on brunch, $75 on groceries.

    2. Back over $3000 in our emergency fund! A small step forward.

    3. Things have been pretty crazy lately, so I'd love a day at home. I'd walk the dog, go for a run, read a book, and work in the garden.
  • 1. Free movie but $18 snacks

    2. Nothing yet. Our closing didn't happen last week so we are just in financial limbo until it happens...

    3. Reading, playing in the yard/walking with the dog, watching TV/video games and eating yummy snacks!

  • 1) How MM was your weekend? Not too bad- groceries ($140), 2 graduation parties ($100), khakis from BR ($47)

    2) Any progress toward goals? nothing went to savings last week- DH won't be contributing $ to savings until September. Need to pad his checking account for the summer months when he's home.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do? I would get a pedicure, sew, go out for sushi with DH, and sew some more.

  • 1) How MM was your weekend? Not too bad, although it was all impulse purchases so that's not so great. DH got his fishing license ($19), we bought a season pass to a local state park ($50), and I bought some flower bulbs at the nursery ($60--what can I say--they were 50% off and I couldn't help myself)

    2) Any progress toward goals? Received $200 for some freelance work from last week. Can't decide whether to put it into savings or towards debt though, so it's just sitting in my checking account right now.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do? Drive down to the beach, and just sit and read.
  • 1) How MM was your weekend?
Pretty good. $25 for a gift, $80 for groceries, $25 for a trip to the zoo, $30 eating out.

    2) Any progress toward goals?
    None this week.

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
Nap, drink coffee, watch a movie, read, nap... :)

Great!  We didn't spend anything.  We went to a good friends' wedding on Saturday.  The groom was the best man at our wedding.  Had a blast!

    2) Any progress toward goals?
    $450 payment to HELOC

    3) You have a day all to yourself to rest and relax, what do you do?
This is the scenario for most of my Sundays.  Sleep in.  I play Pogo (game site) on my computer while I watch the History Channel and/or whatever I have saved up on the DVR.  About once a month, I'll pop open a bottle of champagne and have mimosas at home all day long.  Usually followed by a nap!

For some reason I can't create a post, so we will see if this even goes through.
