Book Club Monday

What are you reading this week?
my read shelf:
Cathy (CathyL7910)'s book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

Re: Book Club Monday

  • Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini. I thought I would like it, since I got a preview of the first few chapters on my ipad but it contains too much of history lesson for me to enjoy.  I thought it was going to be more focused on Mrs. Lincoln, but it's not.  Maybe I just haven't hit that part of the book yet.

  • I finished The Girl on the Train in like 2 days. I was going to start Gone Girl, but then the job search took over my life. I'll probably start that tonight though.

  • I finished The Weight of Blood and liked it.  It was for book club, (which I am sure everyone is tired of hearing about), and I am excited to hear what the others thought about it.

Now I am reading Landline by Rainbow Rowell.

@brainybrunette - What did you think about Girl on the Train?

  • I really liked The Girl on the Train. I couldn't put it down and I finished it in 2 days! I think the less you read about it before you start the book, the better. Someone told me that it was good, but not to read any of the synopsis info on Amazon before you start the book. It was a good suggestion because the less you knew the more you were entertained by the twists.

  • I read it too and I was wondering what others thought.  I did like it but I didn't think that it was as "twisty" as Gone Girl was.

  • I read Girl on the Train this week too!! I agree with you, @minionlover. I don't think it was anywhere near as "twisty" as gone girl. But I definitely liked it! I figured out the biggest plot twist, but only a few chapters before it was revealed.

I also read Sheltering Rain by Jojo Moyes and I'm now onto The Secret Circle.

  • Still listening to Dad is Fat. I do also have Yes, Please downloaded on standby in case I finish the other one; it may be a while though. We're getting audited today at work, so I can't listen to any audiobooks today. :-/

  • I'm reading Yes Please by Amy Poehler. I'm dreadfully bored.

I'm also reading Driving with the Top Down by Beth Haribson. It's cute.

I imagine the audiobook will be better, particularly if Amy Poehler is the one reading it.

    I hope it's good.

  • @willy1020 That may be helpful then. It's her, her parents, and then a bunch of other celebrities like Patrick Stewart and Carol Burnett.
