Best baby shower gift ideas...
My brother and sister-in-law (who was my MOH in my wedding) are having a baby in April- their first (a boy!). For those of you who have had baby showers, what was your favorite gift? Was it something off the registry or something different? I want it to be special because of everything they did for me for my wedding
Re: Best baby shower gift ideas...
There aren't too many moms on this board (one more being added as we speak!), but I know (think?) my friends have loved the handmade items I've given them--blankets, hats, tops. Do you knit/crochet/sew at all?
I think at the shower I went to a few weeks ago my friend loved the baby carriage her brother and dad bought, but she had picked it out in advance.
Oh, one thing that a Nestie (maybe it was Punky?) got that sounded awesome was a few housecleaning visits from a professional service. I can't imagine what a godsend that must be in the first several weeks. I've also sent care packages of frozen, easy-to-heat foods so they don't have to worry about cooking or getting take out every night--this has been really well received too. I use DineWise.
Rock was right, Punky got the gift card for a few free home cleaning visits- I think that's a great idea! My cousin received at her shower a Keurig coffee maker, I also thought that was cute and clever.
My favorite gift was a handmade quilt from a family friend, but unless you are creative or knit/crochet/sew already, then that doesn't really work. Otherwise, to be honest, I was SO glad to get everything off my registry. I was really careful with my registry and tried not to register for too many non-essentials, so everything on my registry was stuff I really needed and I SO appreciated everyone who shopped off the registry.
Not that this is a the "best" gift idea...it might depend on the person..but it is a screaming deal to add to whatever you decide to get!!
You can get a free sling at this website below. Tons of cute patterns.

I just ordered one for my friend who is having her second and not having a shower. I thought it was something that was cute and could be useful. I found this on the GP board.
HTH!
That is such a good idea!
