What is a word (or words) that you cringe a little when you hear?

  • For me it's moist and cream.

  • I'm not sure if I have a word that causes that sort of reaction. Closest thing is a chain of words that causes dread anytime I hear them together. Not technically disgust.

Pus or ooze if it's used to describe a bodily function.    I also cringe at swear words because nobody ever swore in my house growing up.  Even now, I don't swear and instead say "fart".  Like, "Fart you, driver who cut me off!"

  • um i can be pretty vulgar myself, so nothing!

  • "Expecially" or "Expresso"

Also "zit".  I always say blemish instead.

I also hate when little kids say things like "that sucks" I just wonder why their parents didn't teach them better manners.

  • I don't have any now. When I was younger, I used to hate the word blunt, especially in the context of a haircut. My mom would say "give her a blunt cut" and I would be like moooooooom. haha. Still not a fan, but it's much better now.

I HATE when people say eXpresso too...it's espresso people!
I also hate when people pronounce bruschetta wrong...it's BRU-SKET-A not BRU-SHED-A! My MIL always says it wrong and I always correct her...her response, that's the way we say it. Well, you say it very wrong! LOL

ha! You'd hate me then, I say so many things wrong thanks to my parents.  It's a very very hard habit to break.

  • I'm really not a fan of the word soup.
  • Tick, it makes me feel like they are crawling all over me.

I had not idea I've been pronouncing bruschetta wrong.
  • Another one for me is birfday.  There is no F in birthday!!  It's how my XMIL always said it.  Only small children are allowed to say it with an F.

Consider it you Italian lesson for the day ;) The CH in Italian is pronounced as a K sound (there's not really a K in the Italian alphabet).

See I didn't know until I went to Olive Garden once (I'm sorry, I'm sure that makes the Italian in you cringe! haha). I thought the waitress was pronouncing it wrong. I have a hard time saying it right because if you read it like we're taught the english language works....of course it's not English!
